Rate: £24.00–£32.00 per hour

Contract Duration: 3 months

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a busy Adult Acute service in Central London on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 clinician looking to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality assessment and intervention for adult inpatients with a range of communication and swallowing disorders.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering evidence-based care across inpatient acute services, supporting patients to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes while working collaboratively with healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties within an acute inpatient setting.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions for patients with a variety of neurological, respiratory, medical, and surgical conditions.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide person-centred care and contribute to discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records in line with HCPC and local service standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and service development where appropriate.
  • Provide advice and education to patients, families, carers, and healthcare colleagues.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility for membership) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Previous experience working within an adult acute inpatient setting.
  • Experience managing dysphagia and communication disorders in adults.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • The ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
