Banding: Band 6
Location: Princess Royal University Hospital, Orpington
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: £24.00–£27.50 per hour
Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time (37.5 hours per week if full-time)
Duration: 3 months

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Acute Inpatient team at Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated therapist with experience managing adult acute inpatient caseloads to provide high-quality assessment and intervention within a busy hospital setting.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with a range of communication and swallowing disorders to optimise their recovery and improve clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication and swallowing difficulties within an acute inpatient setting.
  • Deliver evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and local trust standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service delivery where appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience working with adult acute inpatient caseloads.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
