Pay Rate: £24.00–£27.50 per hour
Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time (37.5 hours per week pro rata)
Contract Duration: 3 Months
Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Inpatient Team at the Magnolia Unit, North Middlesex NHS Trust. This is a fantastic locum opportunity for a therapist with experience in adult neurological rehabilitation to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
In this role, you will provide a high-quality Speech and Language Therapy service to adult inpatients presenting with a range of neurological conditions, including stroke, as well as patients with complex multi-pathology (non-neurological) presentations. You will play a key role in assessing, diagnosing, and delivering evidence-based interventions to support patients' communication and swallowing needs throughout their rehabilitation journey.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deliver a high standard of Speech and Language Therapy services to adult inpatients with neurological and complex medical conditions.
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with diverse and complex physical, cognitive, communication, and psychological presentations.
- Develop clinical diagnoses and deliver individualised treatment programmes based on assessment findings.
- Independently manage your own caseload while working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with HCPC and local service standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, discharge planning, and service development where appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration.
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), or eligibility to join.
- Previous experience working at Band 6 level within adult inpatient or neurological rehabilitation services.
- Experience assessing and managing adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders, including stroke patients.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
