Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team in Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in their career within a specialist mental health rehabilitation setting.
The service provides care and treatment for adult males aged 18+ with enduring mental health conditions, including personality disorders, substance misuse issues, challenging behaviours, and individuals who may have a forensic background. As Lead Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting service users on their recovery journey while leading and developing the occupational therapy service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex caseload using evidence-based and person-centred occupational therapy approaches.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group interventions that promote independence, self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure skills.
- Participate fully within the multidisciplinary team and encourage service user engagement throughout their care pathway.
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of occupational therapy treatment plans and interventions.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and effective clinical documentation relating to patient progress and rehabilitation outcomes.
- Support the supervision, development, and performance management of junior occupational therapy staff.
- Deliver staff training and contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice across the service.
- Receive and respond to referrals, undertaking comprehensive assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs.
- Support rehabilitation programmes that develop daily living skills, educational opportunities, and community integration.
Requirements:
- HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
- Experience within mental health rehabilitation settings.
- Experience using a range of psychometric and risk assessment tools.
- Strong therapeutic skills with the ability to engage individuals with complex mental health needs.
- Previous experience supervising and managing junior staff members.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
