An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join a well-established NHS laboratory in Surrey. This role offers the chance to work within a busy Clinical Biochemistry service, supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic testing in a modern laboratory environment.
What will your responsibilities be:
• Perform routine and specialist Clinical Biochemistry investigations in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot automated biochemistry analysers
• Validate and authorise results within the scope of competency and laboratory protocols
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of samples to support patient care
• Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and audit activities
• Maintain compliance with UKAS, ISO 15189, and departmental standards
• Support service delivery across the department and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Participate in the laboratory's out-of-hours rota, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
• Previous experience working within a Clinical Biochemistry laboratory
• Competency using Abbott Alinity analysers and/or laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
• Strong understanding of quality assurance and laboratory governance processes
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively
• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
• Previous experience working within a Clinical Biochemistry laboratory
• Competency using Abbott Alinity analysers and/or laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
• Strong understanding of quality assurance and laboratory governance processes
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively
Desirable:
• Previous Band 6 experience within Clinical Biochemistry
• Experience working in a high-throughput NHS laboratory environment
• Experience participating in an out-of-hours service rota
