About the Role
The Research Associate will support Preclinical Development and Engineering R&D to advance preclinical CellFX System applications towards clinical use and commercialization. Responsibilities include organizing animal lab supplies and forms to ensure all required materials are brought to each lab, as well as the set-up and take-down of equipment, and operation of the CellFX unit during studies. Individual is responsible for data recording, handling, and digitization during and after animal studies, as well as basic report writing after each lab to memorialize lab activities. Work with the Engineering department to execute engineering validation studies characterizing new CellFX applicators for use in multiple tissue types.
To Make an Impact, You Will:
- Ensure the required supplies, equipment, and paperwork are brought to every preclinical animal lab.
- Set up and break down all equipment for each study.
- Regularly inventory lab consumables and take responsibility for sourcing and ordering additional units as needed to ensure labs are appropriately resourced.
- Ensure all written, electronic, photographic, and video data required to fully document a study is captured.
- Follow Good Data Practices (GDP) for data acquisition to ensure all data captured is of the highest quality.
- Responsible for the timely digitization and organization of all study materials after each study.
- Write reports summarizing each study, including any important findings noted during the study in a timely fashion.
- Assist Engineering in performing validation testing of new devices to ensure that they meet all defined product specifications.
- Identify and implement workflow improvements in the Preclinical Department to ensure we meet aggressive project deadlines and ensure data remains organized and accessible.
- Collaborate and effectively communicate with members of the Preclinical and Engineering department to ensure constant alignment of timelines and goals while working on complex, interdepartmental projects.
- Drive to meet deadlines and deliverables while working as an individual contributor and significant team member.
To Excel, You Will Bring:
- BS Degree in Engineering, Biology, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant research experience.
- In vivo research experience required.
- Large animal research experience preferred.
- Medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
- Experience with pulsed-energy or other tissue ablation technologies a plus.
- Experience working in a startup environment is a plus.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proficient knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office Suite applications, Photoshop, SmartSheet a plus.
- Basic knowledge of DSLR photography and/or video equipment a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work conscientiously and with minimal direction, using good judgment, taking initiative to accomplish short and long-range projects, and recommend actions with minimal direction.

- Ability to work as a team member, multi-task, and be very flexible to adapt to the ever-changing work priorities and requirements of a dynamic, fast-growing company.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time. Overnight travel may be required.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
Pay Range:
Compensation is determined based on a wide range of factors including location, job-related skills, experience, education, and training. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. This pay range is specific to Northern California location. Base salary range: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
