We are looking for a full-time experienced, detail-oriented, organized, and driven Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team at PursueCareRx Pharmacy in Huntington, West Virginia.  Key attributes for success in this role include strong communication skills and the capacity to work with patients, physicians, pharmacists, and patient coordinators with genuine care and empathy. The ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare, retail pharmacy and customer service roles.

What You’ll Do:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and provides various support functions related to Pharmacy services. Duties include preparing prescription orders for patient pickup, delivery, and shipment; controlled substance management and preparation; receiving and processing incoming medication and supplies; maintaining various records, logs, and reports; answering telephones, responding to questions or requests; receiving and coordinating patient orders via phone or computer-based platform; managing ordering, preparing, and shipping. This role includes direct contact with the patient in person, via videoconference, phone, chat, and email.
 
Specific Hands-On Initiatives May Include:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the STI Treatment team and the pharmacy to ensure seamless communication
  • Oversee the management and processing of digital therapeutic prescriptions accurately and efficiently
  • A focus on multiple, time sensitive tasks
  • Process and fulfill orders for prescriptions and at-home kits, including shipment and delivery preparation
  • Manage the packing and shipping of medications
  • Intake and process patient orders via telephone, webform, or other technology platforms
  • Assist with prior authorizations
  • Maintain quality assurance standards by performing regular audits and creating remediation plans as warranted
  • Assists in proper inventory maintenance of drugs and supplies ordered and stored by the pharmacy
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintains pharmacy in a clean, orderly, and safe manner by restocking shelves, cleaning workstations, returning medications to stock.
  • Maintains current knowledge and competency of USP 800
  • Removes expired products and completes documentation.
  • Understanding and compliance with handling procedures of all controlled substances
  • Displays teamwork by actively supporting department changes and willingly and proactively assists co-workers
  • Demonstrates an understanding and ability to use current equipment including electronic workflow systems, printers, computers, fax machines, telephones, POS, etc. Reviews
  • Transmit and receive wholesaler orders as required
  • Assists in the creation, handling, and maintenance of a variety of pharmacy records, to promote the efficient operation of the pharmacy and assure regulatory compliance
  • Accurate preparation, labeling, and packaging of medications for dispensing under the supervision of the pharmacist
  • Assists patients at drop-off and or pick up and obtains pertinent patient information for inclusion into the electronic profile

We’re Looking for Someone:

  • Credentialed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Current West Virginia Pharmacy Technician license
  • Prior experience in a pharmacy or clinical setting with a strong attention to detail and exceptional time management skills.
  • Prior experience in the substance use disorder treatment field preferred
  • Excellent computer skills and a demonstrated comfort with technology
  • Excellent and thoughtful verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Desire to contribute wherever support is necessary
  • Desire to learn and grow with our company - to put in the time, focus and effort necessary to advance to the next level of their career

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. Qualifications

  • Must possess the knowledge, skill, physical ability, and mental capacity to perform the typical duties and responsibilities enumerated below or implicit therein.
  • Knowledge and complete understanding of all facets of retail pharmacy.
  • Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained and maintained including required continuing education credits.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

PursueCareRx Pharmacy is a full-service pharmacy located in Huntington, WV.  In partnership with our parent company, PursueCare, we strive to deliver quality and respectful patient care with a focus on MAT medications for treating Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
