Role Overview

Putnam is seeking high-performing, intellectually curious students to join our 10-week Summer Internship Program. Each summer, we welcome rising seniors from leading universities to work alongside our consulting teams, contribute to real client engagements, and gain firsthand experience in life sciences strategy consulting.

As a Summer Associate Consultant, you’ll be immersed in the day-to-day work of our consulting teams, helping tackle strategic challenges facing leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare organizations.

Throughout the summer, you’ll build core consulting skills through meaningful project work while participating in networking events, professional development sessions, and social activities that showcase Putnam’s collaborative culture and vibrant office community.

Here's What You'll Be Doing

Summer Associate Consultants are paired with experienced mentors and work closely with project teams across multiple client engagements. During the internship, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct primary research with physicians, patients, and other healthcare stakeholders.
  • Gather and synthesize secondary research from scientific literature, industry publications, and internal knowledge resources.
  • Analyze client, market, and healthcare data to identify key insights and support strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop client-ready presentations, strengthening your skills in slide development, storytelling, and executive communication.
  • Contribute to solving complex business challenges while gaining exposure to the strategic issues shaping today’s healthcare and life sciences industries.

By the end of the program, you’ll have gained valuable strategy consulting experience, built meaningful relationships across the firm, and strengthened the analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills needed to succeed in a consulting career.

Here's What You'll Need

We’re looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • This internship is intended for current juniors pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Economics, Finance, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of June 2028.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, and a consistently high standard of work.
  • Excellent attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills.
