The role

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist to be the strategic anchor for a functional team. You won't just be building models; you'll be a key influencer who translates ambiguous business challenges into powerful, end-to-end ML solutions. Your mission is to take ownership of the data science lifecycle, delivering automated and augmented decisions that create a quantifiable impact on the business.

Your day-to-day

This includes framing the business problem, designing rigorous experiments, and selecting evaluation criteria that directly connect to business value.
  2. Engineer the MLOps Backbone: Build and own the automated systems that keep our models sharp. You'll design and implement robust pipelines for model retraining, monitoring, and alerting, creating repeatable CI/CD processes that ensure service stability and performance.
  3. Elevate the Team: Act as a force multiplier for the team's talent. You'll actively mentor junior data scientists, lead knowledge-sharing sessions (like tech talks and paper reviews), and champion best practices that raise the bar for everyone.
  4. Influence Business Strategy: Be the voice of data for your partners. You will translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling insights for non-technical audiences, making recommendations that directly influence your functional team's priorities and decisions.

  • Scientific Rigor: A proven track record of designing robust experimental frameworks and validation strategies. You know how to methodically test hypotheses and build models you can stand behind.
  • Business Acumen: The ability to see the business problem behind the data. You excel at turning vague challenges into well-defined data science projects with clear success metrics.
  • A Mentorship Mindset: You're a natural teacher and collaborator who enjoys elevating others. You are a trusted partner who is sought out for your ability to solve problems and explain complex ideas with clarity.

  • Advanced Credentials: PhD in a quantitative discipline or an actuarial designation (or progress toward one).
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in auto insurance, specifically in cost modeling and working with large-scale, semi-structured or unstructured datasets.
  • Telematics Know-How: Hands-on experience with telematics data collection, signal processing techniques, or IoT data pipelines.
