Welder
Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to support the manufacturing of critical flight hardware for our Ranger spacecraft program at our Tulsa manufacturing center. In this role, you will perform precision welding on propellant tanks, pressure vessels, fluid lines, tube assemblies, structural weldments, and tooling using TIG and orbital welding processes on titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, and Inconel.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity, reliability, and quality of spacecraft components that must withstand demanding flight environments and high-pressure propellant systems. Working closely with welding engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, you will follow qualified welding procedures, maintain strict cleanliness and traceability standards, and support inspection and qualification activities to ensure all welds meet aerospace requirements.
This position is ideal for an experienced welder who takes pride in precision craftsmanship, demonstrates consistent welding techniques, and thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment where quality, safety, and mission success are essential.
Where You’ll Make an Impact
- Perform TIG welding on thin-wall titanium, aluminum, stainless, and Inconel per qualified weld procedures
- Set up and operate orbital tube welding equipment and purge systems for fluid system assemblies
- Weld propellant tanks, pressure vessels, and structural weldments in fixtures
- Prepare joints, clean and fit parts, and maintain cleanliness and purge requirements for aerospace welds
- Inspect your own welds visually and support NDI; document weld records and traceability
- Maintain welder certifications and support weld procedure qualification with welding engineering
- Maintain welding equipment, consumables, and the weld cell
- Identify fixture, fit-up, and process issues and feed back improvements to welding engineering
- Follow all safety, FOD, and cleanliness requirements for flight hardware
What It Takes
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 4+ years of TIG welding experience on thin-wall stainless, aluminum, or titanium
- Ability to read engineering drawings and weld symbols
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience welding aerospace, spacecraft, or launch vehicle hardware to AWS D17.1 or NASA-STD-5006
- Current or prior certification to AWS D17.1, ASME Section IX, or similar
- Experience with orbital tube welding of stainless and titanium
- Experience welding pressure vessels and tanks that are X-rayed and pressure tested
- Experience with purge chambers and inert atmosphere welding of titanium
- Experience with electron beam, laser, or friction stir welding
- Experience with weld fixture setup and fit-up of precision parts
- Steady, patient, and committed to consistent quality on every weld
What You’ll Get
- Ownership – Take responsibility for precision welding of mission-critical spacecraft components, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability throughout manufacturing and production
- Innovation – Work with advanced welding processes, specialized aerospace materials, and manufacturing technologies supporting next-generation spacecraft propulsion and structural systems
- Impact – Play a direct role in producing flight-ready propulsion tanks, pressure vessels, fluid systems, and structural hardware supporting national security, civil, and commercial space missions
