Finance Assistant (Part-Time and 6-month FTC)

The Company was founded with initial series A financing, led by Syncona Ltd who committed $83M with a further $1M contributed by UCL Technology Fund. 

 

THE ROLE 

We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join the Finance team at Quell Therapeutics. This is a part-time role (50% FTE), structured as a job share, so strong communication and a collaborative working style are essential.

The position is offered on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential to become permanent.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES    

Invoice Processing & Supplier Management

  • Process high volumes of purchase ledger invoices, including 3-way matching (PO, GRNI, invoice) where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate AP records and ensure coding, approvals, and postings follow internal controls.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve outstanding queries promptly.
  • Act as a first point of contact for supplier AP queries.

Payments & Cashflow Support

  • Manage bi-monthly supplier payment runs.
  • Process approved ad-hoc and urgent payments.
  • Ensure payments are aligned with supplier terms and internal cashflow guidelines.
  • Making treasury movements as requested by the Assistant Financial Controller or SVP Finance.

Reconciliations & Month-End Support

The tasks to be completed will vary from month to month depending on which tasks are due for completion on days worked. Tasks will include:

  • Reconciliation of accounts payable balances to the general ledger.
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Support month-end close by preparing AP-related journals (e.g. prepayments, depreciation, accruals etc).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date AP aging reports.
  • Process and reconcile bank transactions linked to AP activity.
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register and reconciliation to the general ledger.

Other ad hoc tasks

  • Monitoring and resolving integration errors between Amici Procurement system and NetSuite (ERP).
  • Support year end audit process (collating sample requests, schedule preparation etc).
  • Maintenance of Employee NetSuite and Concur accounts, to include setting up new employees and removing leavers.

 

EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong accounts payable experience within an SME environment.
  • Experience using SME ERP finance systems (NetSuite, Dynamics, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Tipalti or similar payment automation tools.
  • AAT/other relevant qualification or by experience

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and dependable—important due to the job-share model.
