Assistant Controller
Summary
The individual in this role plays a crucial part in the company’s financial health and success, supporting the goals and objectives of the Company and Finance department. They assist with all financial activities, ensuring compliance and providing strategic financial guidance to the leadership team.
Responsibilities
· Manage and mentor a small, but rapidly growing finance team.
· Assist with all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Government Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
· Payroll Management: Supervise and manage the global payroll function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee compensation. Oversee payroll compliance, including tax filings and reporting for all jurisdictions.
· Financial Reporting & Compliance: Lead the preparation and oversight of all financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS. Ensure timely monthly close processes, and drive the preparation for and implementation of necessary processes for financial reporting.
· Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
· Research technical accounting issues for complianceSupport budget and forecasting activities.Monitor and analyze financial performance.
· Develop and maintain internal control and ensure distinct separation of duties
· Maintaining current accounting system and help define future needs for the selection
· Create and coordinate the annual audit process.
· Oversee tax and compliance activities.
· Work closely with the Controller to support overall department goals and objectives.
· Support government grant submissions and proposals.
Qualifications
· BS/MS degree in Accounting or Finance. Advanced degree and/or CPA required.
· Minimum of 7-10yrs of experience in a financial management role. Prior public accounting (Big 7) or Consulting experience required
· An extensive experience in accounting or finance, with a strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations.
· Strong understanding of treasury management, payroll processing, procurement, AP and expense reimbursement, and financial operations.
· Advanced proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, procurement systems, and Excel.
· Exposure to international financial operations and multi-currency accounting. Experience establishing and refining finance-related policies.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Experience with grant proposal submissions and grant-related financial responsibilities.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
· Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
