Software Engineer, Localization & Mapping

Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer or Scientist with a strong expertise in Visual SLAM and Structure-from-Motion (SfM), using images as primary input. You’ll be building new approaches to serve Quidient’s unique GSR challenges.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and extend existing SLAM and SfM algorithms for monocular RGB imagery.
- Implement robust localization and mapping algorithms in C++ utilizing industry tools.
- Contribute to algorithm research, evaluation, and integration with Quidient Reality®.
- Collaborate with algorithm, engine, and edge teams to advance company product.
- Publish results, contribute to open source, or deliver production features depending on project scope.
- Build next-generation SLAM systems engineered for extreme robustness and reliability beyond today’s state-of-the-art.
What You Bring
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Masters degree +2 yrs exp or equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Vision, or a related field.
- Deep expertise in SLAM and/or SfM with Monocular images.
- Proficiency in Python and C++ for algorithm development and optimization.
- Hands-on background with SLAM or SfM frameworks (COLMAP, ORB-SLAM, DSO, or Similar).
- Strong mathematical foundation (linear algebra, optimization, geometry).
- Track record of relevant publications, significant open source contributions, or shipped products/research in industry.
- Meet Quidient, customer, and government security requirements, which may include, but are not limited to a background check, citizenship verification, and Criminal Justice Information Services verification.
- This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- PhD. in Computer Vision, Robotics, or related field with research focused on SLAM, SfM, or 3D Scene Reconstruction.
- Experience with PyTorch and CUDA (or strong GPU computing background).
- Knowledge of deep learning methods, photogrammetry, or differentiable rendering.
- Familiarity with Ceres Solver, g2o, or similar optimization libraries.
- Experience optimizing for GPUs and working with large datasets.
What We Offer
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000.
