Overview

We’re seeking a scene reconstruction engineer with strong Python development skills, applied math ability, and exposure to 3D reconstruction and machine learning. This role focuses on building production-ready APIs, supporting customer deliverables, and applying ML techniques to accelerate our scene reconstruction engine.

This is a hybrid position, meaning that you will need to live within easy driving distance to our Technology Center in Columbia, Maryland.

What You’ll Do

Scene Reconstruction & Algorithm Development

  • Develop and maintain production-grade Python APIs around 3D reconstruction algorithms to support customer deliverables.
  • Apply and fine-tune off-the-shelf ML models (using PyTorch or TensorFlow) on Quidient’s datasets to improve reconstruction workflows.
  • Collaborate with the Algorithm and Engine teams to integrate research prototypes into production systems.
  • Optimize code for performance and scalability, including GPU acceleration (CUDA) where applicable.
  • Write clean, tested, maintainable code and participate in peer reviews.

What You Bring

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field.
  • Strong Python programming and debugging skills.
  • Experience building and deploying production APIs.
  • Solid foundation in linear algebra, geometry, or optimization.
  • Exposure to 3D reconstruction, rendering, or graphics pipelines (academic or professional).
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch strongly preferred; TensorFlow acceptable).
  • Willingness to work on-site in Columbia, MD, in a hybrid capacity.
  • Meet Quidient, customer, and government security requirements, which may include, but are not limited to a background check, citizenship verification, and Criminal Justice Information Services verification.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience in fast-paced or startup environments.
  • Experience with CUDA programming or GPU-accelerated compute.
  • Prior work fine-tuning models and curating datasets for applied ML.
  • Familiarity with SLAM, NeRF, SfM, or MVS techniques.
  • Comfort balancing research-to-production pipelines and customer deliverables.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

What We Offer

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $125,000 - $180,000.
