Visual Designer

Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition. Twenty percent of US global warming emissions come from homes (that's more than cars!). The largest driver of home emissions is burning fossil fuels for heat. To accomplish the transition, over 80M US homes need to transition from combustion to efficient, electric heat pumps over the coming decades.

We believe for this to happen the world needs fantastic products that are easy and desirable to purchase. Today's heat pumps lack great design, make limited use of software, and are difficult and stressful to adopt. We are building a next generation, beautifully designed, AI-optimized home heating and cooling system that is 10x better than what is on the market today. And we are making it easy to purchase and adopt by managing all sales, rebates, permitting and installation for our customers.

Role

Quilt is looking for a multidisciplinary visual designer to drive the future of our visual identity across platforms and audiences. If you’ve ever described yourself as a Swiss Army Knife, this role might be for you.

Quilt is turning heat pumps into a coveted category, and our visual identity is one of the defining aspects of our young brand (example & example). As our first visual designer, you will be responsible for crafting engaging content and experiences that align with our marketing and product strategies, and further differentiate our look and feel from everything else on the market.

Who you’ll work with: a small and mighty design team that partners cross-functionally with the entire Quilt org—from marketing to installers to hardware and everything in between—to drive customer-focused designs that cohesively communicate our brand message and values.

Responsibilities

  • Drive design projects from concept to completion across platforms and mediums
  • Collaborate across functions with marketing, comms, UX, and product to develop and design multichannel marketing campaigns
  • Contribute to brand strategy and grow our brand ID across a budding product ecosystem
  • Own designs and templates for internal comms, branding, and events, including presentations, signage, and swag
  • Grow and promote our brand guidelines, ensuring a cohesive visual narrative and consistent implementation across channels

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual design skills across mediums and platforms
  • Strong core design skills—typography, layout, interaction, color, composition, and pixel perfection
  • Experience with implementing and evolving brand guidelines and design systems across platforms
  • Experience designing across marketing channels, such as web, email, and social
  • Experience and proficiency with video and photo editing
  • Knowledge and understanding of digital, print, and video production processes
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal direction and collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team
  • Solid project and time management ability, and attention to detail while managing multiple projects

You will thrive in this role if you

  • Are customer-obsessed, with a human-centered approach to problem-solving and communication
  • Love to experiment with new techniques, tools, and technologies
  • Are scrappy, thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Are radically learning-focused, have a growth mindset, and are eager to improve your craft
  • Delight in being fast and flexible in the early stages of a design, as well as being precise, focused, and polished when it comes to delivering a final product
  • Would like to fight climate change AND make beautiful things 💅🏻

Don’t meet all the qualifications but really vibing with this role and our mission? We know there are incredible candidates who may not fit the description and have other skills we haven’t even considered. If that sounds like you, don’t hesitate to apply and introduce yourself.

This is a full-time, hybrid position in our Redwood City office. The expected salary range is $110,000 to $140,000 a year, based on experience. In addition to base salary, Quilt also offers meaningful equity and top-tier benefits.

This is an opportunity to join a highly skilled and ambitious team of people who truly care about the impact of their work. We are on a mission to accelerate a species-level human transition. For over a million years we've been burning things to stay warm. It's time to move to a better way of living.
