MERCHANDISING MANAGER, BAGS/SLG
We’re looking for a Merchandising Manager, Bags/SLG to join our growing team. In this role, you will scale Quince’s Bags & SLGs category - owning the assortment, pricing, and profitability end to end. You’ll combine product intuition with data-driven decision-making to build a high-performing assortment that delights customers and accelerates Quince's growth.
Success in this position means driving exceptional growth in the Bags & SLGs category by delivering an assortment that balances data-driven insights with great product instinct - meeting customer needs, achieving margin and revenue targets, and strengthening Quince’s reputation for luxury-quality goods at accessible prices.This role plays a critical part in advancing both our team’s goals and Quince’s broader mission.
Responsibilities
- Own the Bags & SLGs assortment strategy, ensuring the category delivers on Quince’s promise of exceptional quality at accessible prices.
- Curate and manage the product assortment to meet customer needs and achieve financial goals (revenue, margin, and inventory health).
- Leverage data and customer insights to build, optimize, and scale the assortment — analyzing performance, refining product mix, and making evidence-based decisions
- Partner closely with sourcing to identify and develop new products, with a focus on craftsmanship and material quality.
- Analyze sales, margin, and returns data to drive data-backed decisions that optimize assortment, pricing, and inventory.
- Collaborate with marketing, site, and creative teams to ensure compelling product launches and storytelling that reflect brand positioning.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and competitive dynamics in the handbags and small leather goods space to inform product strategy.
- Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to support growth targets while maintaining profitability.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration, serving as the category expert and advocate for the customer.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and systems to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
Qualifications
Required:
- 7-10 years of retail merchandising experience in the Handbags (with an expertise in leather) category, preferably with luxury expertise
- E-commerce experience and/or DTC experience preferred
- Proven track record of progressing within an organization and demonstrating continuous growth in roles and responsibilities
- Product obsessed with experience in leveraging data tools and external sources
- Critical eye to anticipate customer needs (both the “science” and “art” of retail merchandising)
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and analytical with focus on execution, problem-solving, improving processes and brand enhancement
- Continuous learner and highly curious; always open to considering new perspectives; proactive when changing course and facing added challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Motivated by working in a fast-paced collaborative environment, where flexibility to stretch into or out of functional comfort zones is crucial for team success
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
Pay Range: $90,000 - $140,000
*Please note, this role is based in our San Francisco office.
All posted ranges are reflective of base salary and may vary depending upon experience level and location. Bonus and equity may also be provided for eligible roles.
