THE ROLE: 3PL Operations Manager – Chicago

We’re looking for a hands-on, data-driven 3PL Operations Manager to oversee Quince’s domestic warehouse and fulfillment operations onsite in Chicago. In this role, you will own day-to-day execution with our third-party logistics (3PL) provider, ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-effective fulfillment across all inbound and outbound workflows.

This is a high-impact role that blends analytical rigor with tactical execution. You will partner closely with internal inventory, planning, sourcing, engineering, and customer experience teams, as well as 3PL supervisors, to drive speed, accuracy, and scalability across the network.

Success in this position means delivering operational excellence, maintaining green KPIs across shipping, accuracy, and receiving, and building a stable, predictable operation that supports Quince’s mission to deliver luxury-quality essentials at radically low prices.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily performance across receiving, inventory accuracy, quality, and outbound shipping, ensuring all workflows meet targets (dock-to-stock, accuracy, on-time shipping, defect rates).

  • Maintain and manage productivity trackers (UPH by function/zone) to identify throughput opportunities and improve speed, accuracy, and building efficiency.

  • Oversee daily warehouse and fulfillment operations onsite in Chicago to ensure accurate picking, packing, and shipping across all channels.

  • Track, analyze, and enforce SLAs and KPIs across fulfillment accuracy, shipping performance, and operational quality.

  • Coordinate inbound freight with suppliers, carriers, and 3PL teams to ensure smooth receiving, timely putaway, and accurate system capture.

  • Partner with internal inventory teams to manage stock levels, prevent stockouts, and manage inter-facility transfers.

  • Identify and resolve fulfillment issues such as delayed shipments, mispicks, damaged goods, or process gaps, escalating as needed.

  • Oversee workforce planning with the 3PL, including labor allocation, staffing levels, attendance, and workflow execution.

  • Manage warehouse space, including bin utilization, pick-front zoning, and allocation of ground vs. air parcel flow.

  • Implement process improvements to increase throughput, reduce costs, and improve service levels and customer satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with IT and operations teams to optimize WMS, OMS, and ERP integrations for automation, visibility, and accuracy.

  • Build and maintain strong carrier and vendor relationships, negotiate competitive rates, and ensure SLA alignment.

  • Develop reporting dashboards to track fulfillment KPIs, operational costs, and trend-based opportunities for improvement.

  • Work cross-functionally with Customer Experience, Planning, Engineering, and Ops to ensure smooth end-to-end fulfillment execution.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7–10 years of experience managing 3PL or fulfillment operations in a high-volume ecommerce or retail environment.

  • Proven ability to improve fulfillment accuracy, throughput, and cost efficiency.

  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Chicago.

  • Strong background in warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping.

  • Deep understanding of SLAs, KPIs, and fulfillment metrics (order accuracy, on-time performance, dock-to-stock, UPH).

  • Hands-on experience with WMS, OMS, and ERP systems, including reporting, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization.

  • Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, or BI tools.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve operational bottlenecks.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence 3PL teams without direct authority.

Preferred:

  • Experience stabilizing or scaling a new warehouse or fulfillment operation.

  • Experience working with high-volume small-parcel ecommerce operations.

  • Background in continuous improvement, LEAN principles, or warehouse optimization initiatives.

  • Familiarity with logistics automation tools or transportation optimization platforms.

  • Experience with sustainable logistics practices such as packaging optimization or improved returns handling.

  • Strong bias toward technology, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
