This role manages the primary air freight provider, including truckloads moving freight from the FCs to airports, recovery trucks at destination airports, and downstream injection into last mile carriers.

This role ensures that all upstream preparation steps at the FCs are completed correctly so that freight can flow smoothly through the air network.

  • Identify and correct upstream errors that impact downstream air performance
  • Oversee truckloads from FCs to origin airports and recovery trucks from destination airports
  • Monitor scheduled air departures, load acceptance, and flight performance
  • Validate that cartons are injected into the correct last mile carriers at destination

Carrier & Provider Management

  • Manage day-to-day execution with air freight providers and trucking partners
  • Hold providers accountable to SLAs covering pickup, flight departure, flight arrival, recovery, and injection
  • Coordinate actions for missed flights, bumps, or capacity constraints

Monitoring, Data Validation & Escalation

  • Monitor air freight performance dashboards and carrier reporting
  • Validate scan events, flight data, and injection confirmations
  • Identify missing scans, misroutes, or failed injections
  • Act as first point of escalation for air freight disruptions and execution failures
  • Communicate issues clearly with root cause, impact, and recovery plan

Process Improvement & Optimization

  • Identify recurring failure points in air freight execution
  • Partner with transportation, FC, and visibility teams to improve processes and tooling
  • Support optimization of zone skipping, lane design, and injection strategy
  • Contribute operational insight to peak planning and contingency planning

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong attention to detail paired with big-picture systems thinking
  • Highly self-motivated with strong sense of ownership
  • Comfortable monitoring data and validating operational execution
  • Calm and decisive under time-sensitive disruptions
  • Confident communicating with external carriers and internal teams
  • Curious and eager to learn air cargo rules, documentation, and network constraints

Preferred:

  • Experience in air freight, transportation, logistics, or operations preferred but not required
  • Exposure to air cargo, trucking coordination, or carrier management is a plus
