Why This Role Is Different
This role goes beyond routine journal entry posting. You’ll run the technical core of Accounting — inventory accounting, logistics cost accounting, lease accounting, revenue recognition, investment accounting and European subsidiary controllership — on a modern, automation-ready stack.
- Full visibility into business operations. You’ll see exactly how marketing spend, logistics costs, lease obligations and investment performance flow into the business’s financial results, not just the entries that summarize them.
- Technical depth. Lease accounting (ASC 842), revenue recognition (ASC 606) and investment accounting (ASC 320 / ASC 321) under US GAAP — real technical ownership across some of the more substantive areas of US GAAP.
- Entity ownership. Act as controller for one of our European subsidiaries — own the comparison of actuals to forecast, and sit in FP&A discussions with business heads to understand what’s driving that entity’s profitability, working alongside the VP of Accounting and the Finance Controller.
- A modern stack, with AI built in. NetSuite, Coupa, Numeric, Brex and Looker, plus access to Claude Enterprise to build your own agents and automate your workflows — with our Engineering team available to support you when you need it.
- Direct visibility. Your reconciliations and MIS are reviewed directly at the VP Accounting level.
- Ownership from day one. You’ll own your GL areas outright within 90 days, not assist indefinitely.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a Chartered Accountant with 2–4 years of experience, strong core accounting fundamentals, and real curiosity about how operational data becomes financial truth. If you’d rather build a reconciliation engine than re-key an invoice — and you want to deepen your grounding in lease accounting, revenue recognition, investment accounting and inventory accounting — this is built for you.
You’ll work closely with Marketing, Logistics, Operations and external consultants; use NetSuite, Coupa, Numeric, Brex and Looker; and own workstreams with direct VP Accounting visibility, including controllership of a European subsidiary.
What You’ll Own
- Marketing accrual engineering — build and maintain the monthly accrual model across digital, performance, brand and agency spend; reconcile to invoice-level detail using Looker reports, and post journal entries with a clean audit trail.
- Logistics cost modeling — own first-mile, middle-mile and last-mile carrier costs, freight, customs, duty and tariff; build accrual models tied directly to shipment volumes.
- Inventory accounting — own inventory costing, valuation and reconciliation, partnering with Supply Chain and Operations to keep the inventory sub-ledger tied to the GL.
- Lease accounting (ASC 842) — build and maintain lease schedules, ROU asset and lease liability roll-forwards, modifications, terminations and disclosures.
- Revenue recognition (ASC 606) — own revenue recognition schedules and accruals, including review of contracts with multiple performance obligations.
- Investment accounting (ASC 320 / ASC 321) — own investment accounting and reporting under US GAAP for debt securities (ASC 320) and equity securities (ASC 321), including reconciliations against custodian/bank statements and periodic roll-forwards.
- European subsidiary controllership — act as controller for one of our European subsidiaries; own the comparison of actuals to forecasted numbers, and be part of FP&A discussions with business heads to understand what’s impacting that entity’s profitability, working alongside the VP of Accounting and the Finance Controller.
- Close mechanics — use AI to prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids and reserves for your owned GL areas, with documentation built for audit walkthroughs, not audit scrambles.
- Reconciliation architecture — GL-to-subledger, bank, vendor, lease, inventory and investment schedule reconciliations, built to be self-explanatory to anyone who opens them.
- Cross-functional partnership — work directly with Marketing, Logistics, Operations and FP&A to flag risk, propose accounting treatment, and resolve discrepancies before they become close-day fires.
- Automation ownership — build and ship your own AI agents on Claude Enterprise, using MCP connectors into NetSuite, Coupa, Numeric, Brex and Looker, to automate your workflows — with Engineering support whenever you need it.
What We’re Looking For
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 2–4 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong conceptual grip on accounting, accruals, controls and US GAAP — exposure to lease accounting, revenue recognition or investment accounting is a plus, not required.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations and multi-entity accounting.
- A genuine systems mindset — interest in how ERPs, BI tools and automation reshape a close, not just comfort operating them.
- Advanced Excel and comfort with large, system-generated datasets.
- Working knowledge of NetSuite preferred; familiarity with Coupa, Numeric or Brex a strong plus.
- Exposure to workflow tools (Jira / Freshservice) a plus.
- Ability to trace a number back through the operational system that produced it — logic over rote process.
- Comfort with, or willingness to learn, forecast-to-actual variance analysis and FP&A-style business partnering — a plus, not required.
- Sharp communication skills — you’ll present numbers and issues directly to senior stakeholders, including the VP of Accounting and business heads.
- Real curiosity about the story behind the numbers, not just posting entries.
- E-commerce, supply chain or operational finance background preferred, not required.
