About Tech Lead Manager responsibilities at QuintoAndar

At QuintoAndar, the Tech Lead Manager (TLM) is a critical role within our Y-shaped career ladder. It is designed for senior+ engineers who want to expand their impact beyond their individual contribution by managing people without leaving their technical roots behind.

In this role, you will wear a "dual hat." You are expected to be the technical anchor for your team, guiding architecture decisions, ensuring code quality, and unblocking complex engineering challenges — and writing code yourself. You are also expected to be a dedicated people manager to a small group of people, watching for their career growth, performance, and well-being. You are the bridge that connects technical strategy with business goals, ensuring your team builds scalable, high-quality solutions that revolutionize the real estate ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

As a TLM, your success is measured by the collective impact and health of your team. You will:

  • Lead People & Careers: Manage a squad of engineers (typically 3-6 direct reports), running weekly 1:1s, providing continuous feedback, leading performance review cycles, and building development plans to help them grow;
  • Drive Technical Strategy: Define the technical vision for your scope, create RFCs (Request for Comments), and guide architectural decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and fault tolerance;
  • Ensure Delivery Excellence: Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to define roadmaps, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and manage the balance between technical debt and new features;
  • Champion Engineering Quality: Advocate for clean code, TDD, and SOLID principles. Maintain a high bar for code reviews and ensure the team follows best practices in observability, testing, and documentation;
  • Provide Hands-on Leadership: While not coding 100% of the time, you will have the flexibility to move between a deep technical focus and more strategic/managerial work according to the project's needs. This means you must be able to "jump in" to prototype, fix critical bugs, unblock the team, refactor legacy code, or own entire features;
  • Foster Ownership: Promote a "You Build It, You Run It" culture, ensuring the team takes ownership of the entire software lifecycle, from conception and coding to deployment, monitoring, and incident management;
  • Cultivate Culture: Build a psychologically safe, inclusive, and high-performance environment where autonomy is encouraged and decisions are data-driven

About the Team

You will join a cross-functional team (comprising Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers, and Data Scientists) that operates with a high degree of autonomy. We believe in agile teams that own their specific domain end-to-end.

Our engineering culture values autonomy with responsibility. Teams decide how to solve problems, not just what to build. You will work in a collaborative environment leveraging modern stacks (primarily Java, Kotlin, Python, React, and Flutter) and a robust cloud infrastructure (AWS/Kubernetes). We are currently pivoting towards an "AI-First" strategy, applying Large Language Models and intelligent agents to automate and improve complex user journeys.

Requirements

What we are looking for:
  • Solid Engineering Background: Extensive experience in software development (Backend, Frontend, or Fullstack) with strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems;
  • Leadership Experience: Experience leading engineering teams (formally as a manager or informally as a Tech Lead), including mentoring and managing technical delivery;
  • Tech Stack: Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, Node.js) and willingness to learn others;
  • Architectural Skills: Ability to design scalable, fault-tolerant systems and microservices;
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (Product, Design, Data);
  • English Proficiency: Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and speaking) for documentation and international collaboration.
You'll stand out if you:
  • Are "AI-Curious" or Experienced: Have an interest in or experience with GenAI, LLMs, and Prompt Engineering;
  • Have Fullstack Flexibility: Ability to navigate between Backend and Frontend (or Mobile) to understand the full user journey;
  • Have Scale Experience: Experience working in high-growth startups or managing high-traffic distributed systems;
  • Are a Talent Magnet: Passion for recruiting and building diverse, high-performing teams.
