Data Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer / Sr Data Engineer to join our team who will architect and ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of our data infrastructure. This role will involve both the design and implementation of new data engineering projects, as well as ongoing maintenance of our existing data infrastructure to support our growing business needs. You will work closely with cross functional teams to evaluate business requests, collaborate to identify solutions, and develop project plans for execution. Additionally, you will partner with the Director of Engineering to provide guidance regarding maintenance and changes to our data infrastructure.  

Base Salary: 160-180k

This range represents anticipated base salary range for this position, in addition to competitive benefits and equity (as applicable). We carefully assess and consider several factors with each candidate, including location, role-related knowledge, experience and skills. Compensation may vary based on these considerations

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with business partners to understand, evaluate, and solution architect approved data engineering requests.  
  • Ensure high-quality standards and adherence to best practices in data management and engineering. 
  • Propose, develop, and enact changes required within the data infrastructure to support business growth, as well as regulatory compliance.  
  • Utilize SQL or Python code to build, update, and enhance data integrations, transformations, and pipelines.
  • Monitor and debug enterprise data integrations and transformations.
  • Support existing and evaluate new BI platforms, such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Domo, and Mode.
  • Utilize data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Cloud Composer, AWS Data Pipelines, Celigo, and Astronomer.io.
  • Manage data warehouses like BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, and Azure.
  • Utilize ETL tools such as Fivetran, Stitch, and Airbyte or develop custom data pipelines.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment, appropriately prioritize, and report status of data engineering tasks and outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7-10 years of experience as a Data Engineer or Sr Data Engineer for a CPG omnichannel company. 
  • Based in New York City or tri-state area.
  • Expertise in SQL and dbt.
  • High proficiency in Python.
  • Experience with BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Domo, Mode, etc.).
  • Advanced skills in data orchestration software (Apache Airflow, Cloud Composer, etc.).
  • Experience with enterprise data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Azure, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ETL tools (Fivetran, Stitch, Airbyte) and custom data pipeline development.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and prioritize work.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex data issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Project Management: Experience managing projects and coordinating with multiple teams to deliver data solutions on time.

Nice to Haves

  • NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, or similar are a plus.
