Marketplace Operations Manager

quip NYC

DESCRIPTION

quip is searching for a Marketplace Operations Manager to run and grow our marketplace business. In this role you'll own day-to-day performance across Amazon, TikTok Shop, and 3P marketplaces, and lead the operational launch of every new marketplace quip enters, building the playbook as you go.

You'll be quip's internal expert on every platform we sell on, the day-to-day partner to our Amazon and TikTok Shop agencies, and the link between marketplaces and our creative, marketing, DTC, operations, and CX teams. You'll bring hands-on experience in Amazon Seller Central or TikTok Shop Seller Center, comfortable moving between strategy and execution, and the organization to run several channels at once without dropping a thread.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to our Director, Marketplaces, with scope that grows as quip's marketplace footprint does.

This is a hybrid role based in our DUMBO, Brooklyn office two days per week.

Base Salary: $100k to $120k

This range represents anticipated base salary range for this position, in addition to competitive benefits and equity (as applicable). We carefully assess and consider several factors with each candidate, including location, role-related knowledge, experience and skills. Compensation may vary based on these considerations

RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketplace Operations

  • Manage day-to-day execution across Amazon Seller Central, TikTok Shop Seller Center, and other 3P marketplaces, including listings management, promotions, account issue resolution, and other issues as they arise.
  • Monitor Buy Box ownership and unauthorized sellers, maintain trackers, and escalate to legal or agency partners as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketplaces to plan and execute promotional strategy across marketplaces, including alignment with channel counterparts and agencies end-to-end.
  • Maintain support files for marketplace operations including item catalog files, promotion calendars, project trackers, and more.
  • Own communications with internal and external partners ensuring both are briefed on marketplace plans including innovation launches, promotional event executions, marketing plans, and more
  • Serve as the escalation point for marketplace buyer messaging, with agency partners owning day-to-day responses.

Agency Partnership

  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for quip's Amazon and TikTok Shop agencies.
  • Brief agency on deliverables, review the output, and hold agency partners accountable to agreed deadlines and KPIs.
  • Translate agency recommendations into decisions the Director and internal teams can act on.
  • Facilitate execution of TikTok Shop and Amazon affiliate campaigns and programs with agency partners and social marketing counterparts.

New Marketplace Launches

  • Lead the operational build-out of new marketplaces, covering cataloging, content, compliance, and ads setup.
  • Act as project manager across internal teams, keeping creative, hardware PM, DTC, operations, and CX aligned to the launch timeline.
  • Build repeatable playbooks and SOPs so each launch moves faster than the last.

Listing Quality & Content

  • Audit and maintain product detail pages across every marketplace, including images, titles, copy, A+ Content, and parent-child variations
  • Work with agencies for continuous catalog management including maintaining necessary files and trackers.
  • Partner with agencies and internal teams on new launches, including item setup in Amazon Seller Central.
  • Write and submit creative briefs for marketplace asset needs, working with internal creative through asset handoff and coordinating implementation with agency partners.

Inventory & Demand Signal

  • Oversee the demand planning process by monitoring inventory health across marketplaces, providing demand input to agencies for file updates, flagging stockout risk early, and representing marketplaces in internal demand planning meetings.
  • Partner with agencies and Operations on shipment planning so inventory levels support sales targets.
  • Own the marketplace forecast for new item launches, aligning inputs with the Director and partnering with hardware PMs through launch.

Performance & Insights

  • Own the read on marketplace performance across sales, ad spend and efficiency, conversion, content health, and inventory, and proactively flag risks and opportunities.
  • Maintain internal performance reporting files and updates by integrating data from multiple sources on a weekly basis.
  • Interrogate Amazon and TikTok Shop advertising performance across campaigns including Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display, and hold agency partners accountable to the plan.
  • Monitor item-level ratings and reviews, analyze trends, and share findings with the broader team.
  • Stay current on each platform's algorithm, policy, and best-practice changes, and translate them into action quickly.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5+ years in ecommerce or marketplace management, brand-side or agency-side
  • Deep hands-on experience in either Amazon Seller Central or TikTok Shop Seller Center, with working familiarity with the other. You will own both from day one
  • Experience working with external agencies: setting the brief, reviewing the work, and holding partners accountable to results
  • Ability to read and interrogate marketplace advertising performance. You don't need to have run campaigns yourself, but you do need to know when a report is telling you something is wrong
  • Working knowledge of FBA inventory mechanics and how marketplace demand feeds a broader planning process
  • Strong analytical skills, comfortable in Excel and dashboards, and able to turn data into a clear recommendation
  • Excellent organization and proactive communication, with the ability to support several marketplaces at once, pivot when priorities shift, and tailor the message to the audience
  • Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully apply AI-powered tools to your own workflow, improving speed and quality without outsourcing judgment
  • Experience with Ulta's marketplace or other emerging retail marketplaces is a plus
  • Experience with TikTok Shop creator and affiliate programs is a plus

Form CC-305

Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
