Compliance Analyst

Position Overview

RA Capital is seeking a Compliance Analyst to join our Compliance team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical individual with a strong interest in the regulatory landscape of investment management and a desire to contribute to a high-integrity compliance environment. The Compliance Analyst will support the administration of RA Capital’s compliance program through surveillance, regulatory reporting, and process optimization.

This position provides exposure to the operations of a dynamic, science-driven investment firm. Prior compliance experience is not required, but curiosity, strong communication skills, and a high level of professionalism are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrator of the ACA Compliance platform, managing employee personal trading reports, political contributions, conflicts of interest disclosures, and employee attestations.
  • Conduct trade surveillance and assist in monitoring compliance with firm policies.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, including Forms 13D/G, Section 16, and other SEC reports.
  • Assist with regulatory exams and inquiries from the SEC or other regulators.
  • Conduct surveillance of interactions between RA Capital investment/research professionals and external parties, including public/private companies, experts, and consultants.
  • Chaperone calls and reviews meeting notes, emails, and related communications.
  • Develop and deliver training to RA Capital staff on compliance policies and regulatory expectations.
  • Assist in the drafting and updating of policies, manuals, and training materials.
  • Contribute to compliance-related initiatives, including data management, workflow automation, and exploring applications of AI to improve efficiency and surveillance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve cross-functional compliance practices.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and investigative abilities with a proactive mindset.
  • Comfort working with data and regulatory technology systems; data literacy or computer science exposure is an advantage.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, both one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments with individuals from varying backgrounds and areas of expertise.
  • Interest in the front-office operations of a registered investment adviser and the broader regulatory environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in business, finance, economics, or a related field. Preferred exposure to computer science through a minor or other related experience.
  • Prior work experience—whether through professional roles, internships, or academic projects—at an investment manager, biotech or life sciences organization, law firm, etc. in compliance, data governance, data protection, risk management, or a related regulatory or analytical field.
  • Prior compliance experience is not required, but a demonstrated interest in healthcare, investment operations and regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred.
  • Must be based in Boston 
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule with flexibility based on business needs
