Keep Critical Systems Running. Support Military Medicine in the Field.

Military medical teams depend on technology that works, even when network connectivity is limited or unavailable.

Rackner is seeking a Field Systems Engineer to support Joint Operational Medicine Information Systems (JOMIS) and related technology in disconnected, degraded, intermittent, or limited-connectivity (DDIL) environments. You'll help prepare, maintain, secure, and restore equipment used during exercises, system fielding, and deployed operations.

This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, takes ownership of challenging technical work, and wants to contribute to military healthcare beyond traditional office environments.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare, configure, troubleshoot, and restore medical IT equipment supporting fielding activities, exercises, and deployed operations.
  • Administer Windows and Linux environments, including system maintenance, patching, audit-log analysis, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose networking, infrastructure, and hardware issues in locations where connectivity and technical resources may be limited.
  • Prepare and validate offline system packages, supporting operational continuity and data reconciliation when connectivity is restored.
  • Support system security, including DISA STIG readiness, vulnerability assessment activities, and implementation of approved hardening requirements.
  • Conduct site surveys and installation planning, provide primary or backup engineering coverage for assigned deployments, and support authorized urgent field assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Four or more years of field systems engineering experience involving Windows, Linux, networking, and deployable hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with systems administration, troubleshooting, and restoration in field or operational environments.
  • Experience with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
  • Current qualification meeting the applicable DoD 8140 / IAT Level II requirement, such as CompTIA Security+ CE or an accepted equivalent.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including internationally and to austere locations, as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supporting JOMIS or military medical IT during fielding activities or deployed operations.
  • Experience with tactical networking or deployable communications infrastructure.
  • DDIL testing, chaos testing, or related system resilience activities.
