Security Manager
Radiant is an El-Segundo, CA-based clean energy startup building a nuclear microreactor. A climate-friendly alternative to diesel generators, Radiant's Kaleidos 1MW microreactor will be the world's first portable, zero-emissions power source that works anywhere. We plan to test our development reactor by 2026 and if successful, it will be the first new commercial reactor design to achieve a fueled test in over 50 years. Radiant's goal is to bring one of the world's first factory-constructed microreactors to market. Our microreactor can bring power to remote parts of the world and provide backup power for life-saving applications in hospitals or disaster-relief scenarios.
Security Manager
Radiant is seeking a Security Manager to implement the controls and protection necessary for safeguarding our sensitive information and technology. You will be responsible for program security, ranging from factory site security planning to information protection programs; experience in both physical and cyber security is a plus. You will have strategic control and autonomy in the shaping of our security department and philosophy as we grow our operations. A successful candidate will be one who thinks creatively and implements lightweight and logical solutions to regulatory requirements. We a looking for a proactive leader who can mature our security program as we expand our operations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive physical security strategies and policies.
- Oversee the management of access control systems and surveillance technology.
- Develop emergency response and crisis management plans, interfacing with local law enforcement and first responders.
- Manage budget and resources for security infrastructure and personnel.
- Lead cybersecurity audits, assessments, and control testing.
- Review operational requirements and system specification documents to ensure applicable security requirements are addressed and incorporated into security processes.
- Educate stakeholders on modern and efficient means for protecting material and information.
- Serve as our liaison with regulators, auditors, and government stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 7+ years of experience in physical security, preferably in a defense or high-security environment.
- Strong understanding of physical security principles, access control systems, and surveillance technology.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations affecting nuclear and defense industry security.
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
Desired Qualifications & Skills:
- Direct experience with nuclear security regulations (NRC 10 CFR 73).
- Experience in managing a team of security professionals and interfacing with executive leadership.
- Familiarity with ICS/OT cybersecurity in energy or defense environments.
- Prior work with COMSEC, insider threat programs, or physical-cyber integration.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, PCI from ASIS International).
- Previous experience working with defense contracts and understanding of ITAR and EAR regulations.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.
- Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.
