FP&A and Reporting Manager

Position Summary:
The FP&A and Reporting Manager plays a critical role in driving financial performance and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for a publicly listed pharmaceutical and medical device company.
This role is responsible for leading the budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes, as well as managing internal and external financial reporting in compliance with J-GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
- Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support business strategy, R&D investments, and product lifecycle management.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Partner with R&D, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams to support decision-making and resource allocation.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including revenue, gross margin, SG&A, and R&D expenditures.
Financial Reporting:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes in accordance with J-GAAP and IFRS.
- Support timely and accurate disclosures for Stock Exchange (SE) and Financial Services Agency (FSA) filings.
- Coordinate with external auditors and ensure compliance with J-SOX and internal control requirements.
- Collaborate with Investor Relations to provide financial data and narratives for earnings releases and investor presentations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (MBA, CPA, or CMA will be plus).
- 5+ years of experience in FP&A, financial reporting, or corporate finance, preferably in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
- Strong knowledge of J-GAAP, IFRS or US GAAP, and financial disclosure requirements for listed companies.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting tools, and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle NetSuite).
- Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data visualization.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in both Japanese and English (TOEIC 850+ preferred).
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
Preferred:
- Experience in a publicly listed pharmaceutical or healthcare company.
- Familiarity with R&D cost tracking, clinical trial budgeting, and product launch financial planning.
- Knowledge of global healthcare regulations and pricing/reimbursement frameworks.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
