Job Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for core accounting operations with a strong emphasis on inventory, cost accounting, and manufacturing-related financial reporting. This position owns critical elements of the monthly close and ensures accurate, GAAP-compliant accounting for inventory, fixed assets, and production activities.
The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing or hardware-focused environments and brings strong technical accounting discipline—ideally developed through Big 4 public accounting—while remaining comfortable operating close to the shop floor and partnering cross-functionally as production scales.
This position is an onsite role based in El Segundo / Greater Los Angeles area (California).
Responsibilities:
Monthly Close & General Ledger
- Own key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close in accordance with US GAAP
- Prepare and review journal entries related to inventory, WIP, COGS, accruals, prepaid expenses, and manufacturing overhead
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely, accurate account reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve variances between operational data and financial records
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Maintain accurate accounting for raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods
- Support standard cost development, BOM costing, labor and overhead absorption, and inventory capitalization
- Analyze inventory movements, excess & obsolete (E&O) reserves, and manufacturing variances
- Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure inventory valuation and capitalization policies comply with US GAAP
Manufacturing & Operational Accounting
- Partner with Production, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure proper accounting treatment for production activities
- Support accounting for production labor, manufacturing overhead, shop supplies, and consumables
- Track and account for tooling, spare parts, and production equipment in accordance with capitalization policies
- Support project-based, build-based, or milestone-driven manufacturing accounting where applicable
Fixed Assets, CapEx & Leases
- Maintain fixed asset and CapEx accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
- Support accounting for manufacturing equipment, tooling, leasehold improvements, and facilities
- Assist with lease accounting and asset tracking related to production facilities and equipment
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Support inventory, COGS, and gross margin analysis
- Provide ad-hoc operational and financial analyses to support production planning and decision-making
Audit, Compliance & Controls
- Prepare audit schedules related to inventory, fixed assets, and cost accounting
- Support external audits, reviews, and tax filings
- Assist in documenting and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, particularly in manufacturing and inventory areas
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, close efficiency, and cost visibility
- Support implementation and optimization of ERP, inventory, and manufacturing systems (e.g., ERP/ MES)
- Contribute to scalable accounting processes as production volumes increase
Required Skills / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, inventory accounting, and cost accounting
- Hands-on experience with month-end close and general ledger ownership
- Strong Excel skills and experience with modern accounting systems
Preferred Skills / Experience:
- Big 4 public accounting experience
- CPA or CPA-eligible
- Manufacturing, hardware, aerospace, industrial, or inventory-intensive experience
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar)
- Experience supporting physical inventory counts and external audits
Summary Pay Range:
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline. Salaries are based on demonstrated candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Level 3: $105,000 - $135,000
