What this role is about:

RapidSOS is looking for a high-impact Senior Technical Accountant to join our finance team during a period of explosive growth. As we prepare for our next major phase of corporate scale, you will be the architect of our technical accounting policies, the lead on complex consolidations, and the engine behind our financial reporting.

This isn't a traditional "back-office" role. We are looking for a professional who views AI as an essential teammate and leverages a modern tech stack (NetSuite, Abacum, Ramp) to automate the mundane. You will bridge the gap between complex GAAP standards and strategic business decision-making.

What you’ll do:

  • Technical Policy & Memos: Research and document complex accounting positions (ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718) in clear, defensible technical memos.
  • Month-End Close & GL Management: Execute critical components of the monthly close process, including the preparation of complex journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and detailed flux (variance) analysis to ensure the integrity of the General Ledger.
  • Process Architecture for Scale: Design and implement scalable accounting processes and institutional-grade internal controls that can withstand 2x–3x transaction volume growth without adding headcount.
  • External & Internal Reporting: Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. You will build out the rigorous reporting framework required for comprehensive external disclosures (MD&A, Footnotes).
  • Strategic Business Partnering: Collaborate directly with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk teams to structure complex deals and new product launches, ensuring favorable revenue recognition and operational feasibility before contracts are signed.
  • Consolidations & M&A: Own the global consolidation process for multi-entity structures. You will lead the accounting workstream for due diligence and post-acquisition integration (ASC 805) as we scale through M&A.
  • Mentorship & Quality Control: Act as a technical mentor to junior accounting staff, performing first-level review of workpapers and elevating the team’s overall technical proficiency.
  • AI Integration: Actively identify and implement AI-driven workflows to streamline data reconciliation, anomaly detection, and reporting cycles.
  • Audit & Compliance: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, leveraging your Big 4 experience to navigate inquiries and ensure a "clean" audit trail.

What we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:

  • Experience: 3–6 years of experience, including a foundational stint in Big 4 Public Accounting (Audit).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
  • SaaS Expertise: Deep understanding of ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 805 (Business Combinations).
  • Executive Presence: The ability to translate complex accounting issues (like warrant liabilities or stock-based comp) into clear, actionable insights for non-finance leadership.
  • Proactive "Audit Mindset": You don't wait for auditors to find issues. You anticipate questions, prepare the defense in advance, and maintain "audit-ready" documentation year-round.
  • The "Power User": Expert-level Google Sheets skills (complex formulas, index/match, and data visualization).
  • AI Mindset: You are an early adopter. You should be comfortable using LLMs and automation tools to increase your output and audit accuracy.
  • Systems Thinker: A track record of identifying bottlenecks in financial workflows and independently implementing solutions (automations, policy changes) to remove them.
  • Systems Mastery: Experience with NetSuite, Abacum, Ramp, Carta, and BambooHR is highly preferred.

What we offer:

  • High Visibility: You will report directly to leadership and have a front-row seat to a high-profile IPO journey and aggressive M&A strategy.
  • Modern Finance: We don't do "manual." We invest in the best tools so you can focus on high-level strategy rather than data entry.
  • Mission-Driven Work: Join a "Unicorn" that provides a critical data link between connected devices and 911 agencies—your work literally helps save lives.
  • The chance to work with a passionate team on solving one of the largest challenges globally.
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and equity participation.
  • A dynamic, flexible, and fun start-up work environment with a highly talented team.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
