Your Role

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Finance Director to join our team in Hamburg. This is a key leadership role within Omnicom Precision Marketing Germany.

The Finance Director will lead a finance team of 3–4 people, overseeing five account groups and a diverse client portfolio. The role is highly client- and business-focused, centered on supporting commercial success and driving profitability across projects.

You will work closely with client leads, senior management, and global finance teams to ensure financial excellence, transparency, and strong commercial partnerships. The ideal candidate combines financial expertise with strong leadership, analytical thinking, and the ability to navigate the fast-paced, project-driven nature of agency work.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management
    Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team of 3–4 professionals, ensuring high standards of accuracy, collaboration, and accountability.
    Foster a culture of partnership between finance and client delivery teams.
  • Commercial & Client Focus
    Act as a trusted financial partner to client leads and business teams, supporting strategic decisions and project profitability.
    Review client contracts, pricing structures, and scopes of work to ensure commercial soundness.
    Manage financial relationships with clients and assist in negotiations when required.
  • Financial Management & Reporting
    Oversee monthly and year-end closing processes, forecasting, and annual budgeting.
    Ensure accurate financial reporting, analysis, and insights for both local and regional leadership.
    Manage revenue recognition, balance sheet, working capital, and cash flow.
  • Performance & Profitability
    Monitor performance against forecasts and identify risks and opportunities to improve margins.
    Support recruitment and resourcing decisions, ensuring healthy billability ratios.
    Collaborate with leadership on operational efficiency and cost management.
  • Processes & Compliance
    Implement and continuously improve financial processes and internal controls.
    Ensure compliance with Omnicom Global policies, as well as German financial regulations.
    Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Business Partnering & Strategy
    Provide commercial leadership in client pitches and new business opportunities, helping define pricing models and profitability frameworks.
    Partner with the President and Regional CFO on financial strategy and decision-making for the German business.

 

Your Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of financial leadership experience, ideally in an agency, consultancy, or project-based business.
  • Proven success managing finances for multi-client portfolios and large-scale projects.
  • Strong experience with German financial regulations, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop small teams.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with forecasting, budgeting, and reporting in fast-paced environments.
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency.
  • Fluent in German and English (both written and spoken).
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Hamburg.
