AI Backend Engineer
Company Overview
Sales has experienced multiple waves of innovation, from industrial systems to modern CRMs, but the daily experience for sellers has remained much the same. Reps still work independently, relying on personal judgment, persistence, and manual effort to close deals. Most sales tools focus on capturing activity rather than improving outcomes. They provide a record of the past but offer little help in making better decisions.
We are building an AI-native system of action designed specifically for sales teams to turn reps into super-sellers. It serves as a focused workspace where sellers can plan, execute, and improve their work.
We are backed by Insight, Lightspeed, Sequoia & GV (Google Ventures) and are used by some of the best B2B sales teams in the world, including Figma, GitLab, Abnormal, Moveworks, Notion, & Intercom.
About the role
We are hiring a Backend Software Engineer to help build the foundation of our AI-native workspace for sales teams.
You will play a key role in developing core backend systems. This includes building scalable data pipelines, integrating CRM and conversation data, and supporting real-time intelligence powered by LLMs & custom ML models. Your work will enable features that guide sales teams through their day-to-day decisions.
This is a high-impact role. You will contribute to new product initiatives, influence technical direction, and work from our San Francisco office as part of a well-funded, fast-moving team focused on delivering real business value.
What you’ll do:
- Work across the backend to build systems that help top B2B sales teams operate more effectively.
- Build scalable, resilient infrastructure that can handle ambiguity and non-determinism inherent in LLM-driven workflows.
- Contribute to the early technical foundation of a high-ownership, high-impact engineering team.
- Help shape our approach to data, applied AI, and real-time intelligence across the product.
What you bring:
Must-haves:
- 6+ years of experience in backend or full-stack software engineering, preferably in high-growth or product-focused teams
- Proficiency in a backend language such as Python, Typescript, Go, or similar
- Experience with RAG pipelines, vector databases, LangChain, & agent frameworks
- Strong understanding of system design, distributed architecture, and building scalable backend infrastructure
- Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, including designing and maintaining data pipelines
Nice-to-haves:
- Previous experience in a startup or early-stage product team
This role is not for you if:
- You don’t live in the San Francisco Bay Area or are not willing to come into the office 5 days a week
- You don’t want to work in an early-stage startup
- You don’t want to build an application from the ground up and are more interested in scaling existing applications
- You don’t want to work with a small, high-impact team
What you’ll get out of it:
- You’ll grow fast by doing hard things. You’ll work on real problems with real consequences, and take pride in building core systems that power how sales teams operate.
- You’ll work directly with the founders. You’ll be part of early product decisions, technical direction, and rapid execution that shapes the company’s future.
- You’ll move quickly and ship with impact. This is not a place for endless planning. You’ll ship real things that matter, and see your work in the hands of customers quickly.
- You’ll be part of a high-energy, in-person team in San Francisco. We whiteboard together, debate ideas openly, and rally around big wins. The pace is intense and the energy is shared.
- You’ll have fun building with people who care. From quick hikes to post-ship celebrations, we make space to enjoy the work and each other. Building should feel like play when the stakes are real.
Additional benefits:
- Flexible paid time off and generous parental leave
- 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage
- We offer H1B sponsorship
