Associate Manager - Legal
Razorpay was founded by Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur in 2014. Razorpay is building a new-age digital banking hub (Neobank) for businesses in India with the mission is to enable frictionless banking and payments experiences for businesses of all shapes and sizes. What started as a B2B payments company is processing billions of dollars of payments for lakhs of businesses across India.
The Role:
The Associate Manager - Litigation will play a crucial role in managing and supporting the company's litigation portfolio. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in litigation, capable of handling diverse legal matters efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of Indian legal procedures, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team. This role demands a proactive approach to litigation management, ensuring compliance with legal standards and minimizing legal risks. A critical component of this role is the ability to communicate effectively in Kannada, as the position will involve interactions with local authorities and stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Litigation Management:
- Manage and oversee all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation to post-judgment, including drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and preparing for hearings.
- Develop and implement litigation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Monitor and track litigation progress, ensuring timely responses and adherence to deadlines.
- Coordinate with external counsel, providing necessary information and guidance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all litigation matters.
- Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and precedents.
- Analyze legal documents and provide clear and concise legal opinions.
- Stay abreast of changes in legislation and case law that may impact the company's legal position.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and notices.
- Generate regular reports on litigation status and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and regulatory authorities.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations.
- Communicate with local authorities and stakeholders in Kannada.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications:
- Mandatory Skills:
- Proven experience in litigation management, preferably in a corporate setting.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian civil and criminal procedural laws.
- Excellent drafting and legal research skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently 1 and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Kannada (reading, writing, and speaking) is essential.
- Comfortable with extensive travel, as the role requires visiting multiple states to appear before courts, police, and regulatory authorities. This is a non-negotiable requirement.
- Proficient in MS office suite.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
- 6-7 years of experience in litigation.
- Enrollment with a State Bar Council.
- Any post graduate legal degree is a plus.
