The Razorpay Corporate Development function owns all inorganic initiatives for Razorpay, be it strategic investments, acquisitions, early-stage startup investments through Razorpay Ventures and other forms of investment-led strategic partnerships. As a Corporate Development Professional you will be responsible for managing, and executing some of Razorpay’s most high impact inorganic activities. This includes end to end ownership of different stages of the deal lifecycle which will interface both externally and internally. You will need to work collaboratively with the founders and leadership at Razorpay
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Based on the vision, identify inorganic growth levers for Razorpay
- Identify high synergy sectors/customer segments/product solutions
- Build in-depth thesis for selected sectors
- Engage with founders, leadership and experts to validate thesis
- Build a strategy for Investments/Acquisitions/partnerships for each sector
- Build market intelligence to stay ahead of market developments
- Build a strong deal flow by building the Razorpay Corporate Development and Razorpay Ventures brand
- Partner with ecosystem players to increase deal flow (founders, Funds, investment banks, networks)
- Extensive outreach to relevant early, mid to late stage startup founders
- End-to-End deal execution
- End-to-end deal management to drive to closure (valuation negotiation, DD, Post acquisition integration, financial modeling etc) for all M&A and large strategic investments
- Working on diligence, IC memos and owning end-to-end investment and portfolio management process for Razorpay Ventures investments
- Post investment, work closely with the portfolio companies in ensuring value creation and realization for Razorpay
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Understanding of the technology/fintech landscape and a strong network within the Indian startup ecosystem, including entrepreneurs and investors to build deal flow pipeline
- Self-starter who can excel in a fast-paced and fluid environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication ability to gain respect of founders/CXOs/leadership and influence internal and external stakeholders
- Strong & structured problem solving skills in an ambiguous and unstructured environment
- High risk taking appetite
- Good understanding of overall investment process including term sheets, diligence, definitive documentation and post-acquisition integration
- 1-3 years of experience in VC funds/Investment banks/PE Funds/Corp Dev teams in Technology or Financial services
