This is a high-impact opportunity to lead the squad building the product that will change the experience of agents and consumers through the home buying journey.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a high-performing squad of backend engineers dedicated to building, scaling, and delivering end-to-end product features for the RDC+ search-to-own platform. The engineers on this team are highly experienced, ranging from Senior to Senior Staff Engineers. Managing this senior tier requires a leader who balances strong technical governance with advanced people coaching, helping tenured technical leaders scale their organizational impact while maintaining a culture of trust and high performance. You will play a pivotal role in accelerating value delivery and engineering excellence while maintaining a RealOwnership mindset across your team.

We believe in leveraging the best tools to solve problems faster. You will be expected to lead the adoption of modern, AI-native engineering workflows across your squad. You will mentor the team on effective prompting strategies, establish guardrails for code security and quality assurance within AI-assisted workflows, and continuously evaluate emerging tooling to keep our engineering practice at the cutting edge.

What you’ll do:

Team Leadership & Talent Scaling

  • Direct & Support: Lead and empower a squad of senior, staff, and senior staff backend engineers, fostering an environment of high autonomy, trust, and continuous improvement.

  • Career Mentorship & Growth: Provide nuanced coaching tailored to high-level individual contributors. Guide senior engineers toward staff tiers and help staff and senior staff engineers broaden their systemic and organizational influence.

  • Agile Execution: Actively remove roadblocks, manage dependencies, and rally the team to deliver high-quality, incremental value using Agile methodologies.

Technical Delivery & Architecture

  • Microservice & Feature Excellence: Guide the team to rapidly deliver scalable, operationally excellent product features for the RDC+ search-to-own platform, encompassing user-facing capabilities, core microservices, and data architectures.

  • Roadmap Alignment: Partner with engineers, product managers, technical leads, architects, and third party vendors across the organization to define backend roadmaps and maintain the architectural integrity of RDC+ products.

  • AI-Native Workflow Governance: Establish team-wide standards for AI-assisted development, ensuring effective utilize of LLMs for velocity while maintaining critical judgment over security and performance.

What you’ll bring:

Experience & Expertise

  • 1 to 2+ years of experience directly leading and managing software engineering teams within a fast-moving technology organization.

  • 6+ years of overall hands-on professional backend software engineering experience, with a proven track record of developing highly performant distributed systems.

  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading senior and staff-level technical talent, with a proven capability to influence and earn the trust of high-level engineers without micromanaging.

  • Deep understanding of modern backend architectures, microservices design patterns, relational and non-relational databases (such as Postgres or MySQL), and AWS cloud platforms.

Technical Skills

  • Core Language Stack: Proven technical depth in one or more of our target backend languages: Python, TypeScript, Rust, Go, or Java.

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Advanced understanding of AWS ecosystems and modern distributed backend architectures.

  • AI Literacy: Practical experience or passion for integrating AI-native workflows (such as Copilot or Cursor) into the SDLC ethically and securely to optimize developer efficiency.

  • Methodologies: Strong grounding in Agile execution, CI/CD pipelines, and data-driven delivery metrics.

Professional Qualities

  • Nuanced Communication: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align cross-functional partners (Product, Design, Architecture) on a shared engineering roadmap.

  • Outcome-Driven Focus: A results-oriented mindset centered on rapidly shipping high-quality code, measuring success, and iteratively optimizing platform performance.

  • Mission Alignment: Ability to connect the technical work of the team back to core business goals and user trust, reflecting the principles found in our Tech RealValues.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
