As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll collaborate with experienced professionals and use your technical expertise, empathy, and customer focused approach to deliver IT solutions that keep our business running smarter, faster, and stronger.

In this role, the Network Engineer designs, implements, and optimizes secure, high-performing network solutions across Re:Build’s on-premise and cloud environments. The position involves managing and maintaining firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless systems, while proactively monitoring performance and resolving issues to ensure business continuity. Working closely with IT and security teams, this role upholds compliance standards, automates routine tasks, and drives continuous improvement in network reliability and efficiency. Additional responsibilities include documenting configurations, mentoring team members, and providing on-site support at Re:Build locations as needed.

What you get to do!

  • Understand and analyze all organization requirements, i.e. performance, scalability, availability, and security requirements
  • Design, configure, optimizes all company networks, including all on-premise (manufacturing, office, remote, etc.) and cloud (Azure, AWS, SaaS, etc.) to meet organizational goals and needs
  • Manage and maintain firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points, IP addressing, certificates, protocols, VPN, and other networking devices/equipment/resources
  • Provide troubleshooting and support to properly resolve complex network issues to keep our business optimally running, while keeping interested parties informed with regular status updates as needed
  • Monitor network performance and proactively rectify issues using network monitoring and inspection tools (i.e. SNMP, packet analyzers, etc.)
  • Perform regular system updates and patching
  • Provide reporting and clear explanation of network utilization on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with security team to ensure networks meet cybersecurity and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate, mentor, and work with team members where cross team needs exist
  • Finish the proper documentation, i.e. design, configurations, ticketing, work updates
  • Provide timely and accurate estimates to complete work
  • Deliver all work within service level agreements and commitments
  • Automate work via scripting and other methods
  • Identify, contribute, and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Travel to Re:Build sites, as needed
  • Other tasks, as assigned

What you bring to the Team

Education & Certifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology (or a related field).
  • Current IT industry certifications such as CCNP or CompTIA Network+.

Nice-to-Have

  • Fortinet NSE certification.

Network Engineering Experience

Required

  • Over 7 years of hands-on networking experience in a distributed enterprise environment (spanning multiple sites and cloud platforms).
  • Proven ability to design, manage, and support complex, multi-site network infrastructures across diverse technologies.
  • Deep understanding of core network protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with networking hardware such as cabling systems, wireless access points, switches, routers, and physical installation (racking/mounting).
  • Practical experience configuring and managing SD-WAN solutions.
  • Experience supporting both IT and OT (manufacturing) networks, ensuring seamless integration and uptime across environments.
  • Skilled at coordinating with external service providers (internet, cabling, and infrastructure vendors) to maintain high service levels.

Nice-to-Have

  • Familiarity with emerging networking technologies such as automation frameworks, network observability tools, or edge computing architectures.

Fortinet Platform Expertise

Required

  • Demonstrated success in deploying, optimizing, and maintaining Fortinet platforms, equipment, and network security solutions.

Nice-to-Have

  • Exposure to multi-vendor networking and security ecosystems (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki).

Security & Compliance

Required

  • Comprehensive knowledge of network security principles and best practices for safeguarding enterprise systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with security teams to ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and frameworks.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience applying ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management.

Technical Breadth & Collaboration

Required

  • Broad understanding of end-user systems, virtualization, server infrastructure (Active Directory, file/print), and cloud services.
  • Proven capacity to adapt quickly to new technologies and translate learning into operational improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, generate reports, and deliver actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Adept at diagnosing complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing effective, sustainable resolutions.

Nice-to-Have

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and how they enhance IT and operations efficiency.

Office Location / Work Week 

Location Requirement: Wilmington, MA

Work Week: Hybrid: 3 days in the office, with 2 days remote.
