Who we are looking for
As the Director of Electrical Engineering for Battery Pack Systems at Re:Build Battery Solutions, you will set the vision and lead the technical direction for our battery pack electrical design efforts. You will be accountable for ensuring that Re:Build develops world-class lithium-ion battery modules and packs that meet the performance, safety, and reliability standards required across automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, and industrial sectors.
This senior leadership role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership. You will guide a team of engineers through all phases of development — from concept design to manufacturing launch — while also serving as a key decision-maker in multi-functional program discussions. Your leadership will influence technology roadmaps, customer engagements, and the execution of complex, high-value programs.
Success in this role requires a balance of strong electrical engineering background in battery systems, proven leadership of high-performing technical teams, and the ability to effectively engage with customers, suppliers, and Re:Build executives to drive innovation and deliver results.
What you get to do
- Lead Technical Direction: Set and drive the electrical engineering strategy for Re:Build’s battery pack programs, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with business objectives.
- Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers. Foster a collaborative culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Program Ownership: Oversee the electrical design and development of lithium-ion battery packs and modules across multiple programs and industries. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with program management, procurement, manufacturing, thermal/mechanical engineering, and software/BMS teams to deliver integrated battery solutions.
- Customer & Executive Engagement: Represent Re:Build in technical discussions with customers and business partners. Present high-quality technical results, design reviews, and recommendations to senior team members.
- Innovation & Technology Roadmapping: Stay ahead of emerging technologies and regulatory requirements. Guide adoption of new tools, processes, and materials that enhance performance, safety, and manufacturability.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all battery designs comply with applicable industry standards, certifications, and safety regulations (UL, ISO, SAE, IEC, etc.).
- Change & Risk Management: Anticipate technical risks and develop mitigation strategies. Lead the engineering response to organizational changes such as acquisitions or program pivots.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee development of supporting materials (BOMs, assembly procedures, installation guides) and ensure quality engineering documentation.
What you bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (required); Master’s or Ph.D. preferred, coupled with 10+ years in electrical engineering with significant focus on lithium-ion battery pack or related systems.
- 5+ years of technical leadership or management experience, including building and developing engineering teams.
- Proven track record of leading the design, development, and testing of battery systems for electrified propulsion or stationary storage.
- Deep knowledge of battery electrical systems, pack architecture, and BMS integration.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks) and electrical layout/analysis software.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (UL, IEC, ISO, SAE) and certification processes.
- Strong ability to set vision, align teams, and drive execution.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) with ability to convey complex technical information to executives, customers, and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated success in managing change, risk, and competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Experience with BMS software and control algorithms.
- Background in mathematical modeling, simulation, or advanced battery testing.
- Project/program management certification or equivalent experience.
