Our senior team of electronics, software, and mechanical engineers are fluent in a broad range of applications including fuel cell control and battery management systems, precision agriculture, medical devices, automotive and transportation components, and imaging systems with machine vision and AI processing integration.

The Re:Build AppliedLogix Team provides design expertise for all facets of modern digital product development - with custom analog and digital embedded electronics; VHDL and Verilog targeting FPGAs, embedded software on bare-metal, RTOS or Linux; full-stack application development (Linux and Windows). Our mechanical design capabilities include the packaging of embedded systems, tooling design, and manufacturing process development.

Location: Rochester, NY, with flexibility for hybrid work and periodic onsite collaboration.

Who We Are Looking For

Re AppliedLogix is looking for an experienced Senior PCB Layout Designer who enjoys solving complex design challenges while helping strengthen the capabilities of the broader team. You bring deep PCB layout expertise, strong technical judgment, and the ability to take sophisticated designs from concept through production.

In this hands-on technical leadership role, you’ll work across advanced energy, automotive, defense and aerospace, medical devices, and robotics and automation. You’ll collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and signal/power integrity engineers while helping shape design standards, mentor other designers, and continuously improve our PCB design practices.

The work spans a wide range of PCB complexity, including flex and rigid-flex assemblies, HDI designs, high-voltage and high-current boards, fine-pitch BGA layouts, space-qualified PCBs, RF, high-speed digital, and mixed-signal designs.

What You Get To Do

• Lead complex PCB layouts from concept through fabrication, including stack-up development, component placement, routing, and documentation.
• Apply advanced layout principles across high-speed digital, RF, mixed-signal, and high-power applications.
• Collaborate with signal and power integrity engineers to meet requirements for controlled impedance, loss budgets, length matching, crosstalk mitigation, differential pairs, and power distribution.
• Partner with electrical and mechanical engineers to translate product requirements into practical design constraints.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, testability, performance, cost, and schedule while considering EMI/EMC and applicable safety requirements.
• Lead design reviews with internal stakeholders and clients, providing clear technical recommendations and rationale.
• Generate and verify fabrication packages and assembly documentation, including ODB++, IPC-2581, and Gerber outputs.
• Develop PCB layout standards, templates, component libraries, and design guidelines aligned with IPC requirements and industry best practices.
• Plan and manage schedules and resource estimates for complex PCB designs to support on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Mentor junior and mid-level designers through design reviews, technical guidance, training, and peer coaching.
• Drive continuous improvement by evaluating emerging tools, processes, and materials that can strengthen design quality and team capabilities.
• Own PCB layout projects with a high degree of autonomy, working directly with customers to clarify technical requirements, resolve design challenges, and drive designs from kickoff through manufacturing release.

What You Bring To The Team

• 7+ years of professional experience in high-complexity PCB layout design, including ownership of complex projects from concept through production.
• Expert proficiency in Altium Designer.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of IPC standards, including IPC-7351, IPC-2221, IPC-2222, IPC-A-600, and IPC-6012.
• Advanced understanding of signal integrity principles, including impedance control, electromagnetic field theory, crosstalk mitigation, and differential/common-mode signal management.
• Strong knowledge of analog, digital, RF, and power circuit layout fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes, capabilities, and limitations across multiple fabrication technologies.
• Comfortable working in a client-facing engineering environment, communicating technical decisions clearly and managing work across multiple customer-driven projects.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, technical communication, and a process-oriented approach to quality and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and mentor other PCB designers.

Preferred Qualifications

• CID+ certification.
• Experience mentoring PCB layout designers and managing technical relationships with clients.
• Experience with SI/PI analysis tools such as HyperLynx, Keysight ADS, or similar.
• Hands-on experience designing flex and rigid-flex PCBs.
• Scripting experience with Python, SKILL, or similar tools for design automation and workflow optimization.
• Experience using AI tools to improve productivity and design quality while critically evaluating outputs.
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards such as UL, CE, FCC, RoHS, and REACH, as well as industry-specific requirements.
• Familiarity with additional EDA platforms such as Cadence Allegro or Mentor PADS.

Compensation 

The hourly rate for this position is $40.00- $60.00. This range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting.  Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to hourly rate, this role may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to Company plans.
