Director of Quality

Rock Hill, SC

About Re:Build

At Re:Build, our mission is to ensure the next generation of important products are made, at scale, in America. We are laying the foundation for a better future for our customers, employees, and communities by revitalizing America's manufacturing base and creating meaningful jobs across the country, including in historically deindustrialized regions.

We operate an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform that partners with industrial companies and innovators to take products from first concept to full-scale production in critical verticals including aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation.

The way we operate is as important as the work we do. It's guided by The Re:Build Way, 16 principles that shape how we collaborate with each other, partner with our customers and vendors, and contribute to the communities where we operate. (link to The Re:Build Way principles)

About Re:Build Composite Resources

Composite Resources, a Re:Build Manufacturing company, is an innovative, rapidly growing manufacturer of composite components and tooling located in Rock Hill, SC. Our constantly evolving portfolio of projects includes parts and assemblies for clients in the aerospace and defense industries. At Composite Resources, we embrace a culture defined by teamwork, ownership, and accountability.

Who We Are Looking For

Composite Resources is looking for a strategic, hands-on Quality leader ready to build a quality function from the ground up during a period of significant growth. You've successfully led a facility or special process through NADCAP certification before and know what it takes to go from readiness assessment to accreditation. You're comfortable operating at the executive level — shaping strategy and reporting directly to the President — while still rolling up your sleeves to solve problems on the floor.

You bring experience in quality systems, APQP, and Lean/Six Sigma in manufacturing, ideally within composites or aerospace. You're energized by the challenge of building a quality strategy that works for both a fast-moving, high-mix prototyping operation and a higher-volume, cost-disciplined production site — with the opportunity to build your own team and establish quality as a true competitive advantage.

What You Get To Do

  • Lead the organization's achievement of NADCAP certification at the new site — owning the roadmap, readiness assessments, gap closure, audit prep, and accreditation.
  • Build and lead a growing Quality team to support expansion across two facilities over the next five years.
  • Define a culture of quality and set department goals aligned with company objectives.
  • Implement and maintain AS9100, ISO, NADCAP, and other aerospace/composites certifications, including internal, compliance, and supplier audits.
  • Architect quality strategies tailored to two environments — balancing fast-paced prototyping with cost-efficient, higher-volume production.
  • Partner with other departments to plan, implement, and improve quality programs supporting business goals.
  • Track quality metrics and turn data/trends into improvement actions with cross-functional teams.
  • Apply SPC, analytics, AI tools, and Lean/A3 problem-solving to drive process improvement and error prevention.
  • Engage with customers on gate reviews, documentation, deviation approvals, engineering changes, and part quality concerns.
  • Ensure timely completion of quality documentation (ballooned drawings, PFMEAs, control plans, capability studies, etc.).

What You Bring To The Team

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience successfully achieving NADCAP certification for a site or special process.
  • 5+ years in Quality Systems, APQP, Lean/Six Sigma, and large-scale project management in manufacturing.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role, with proven success building and developing a quality team.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to drive change with minimal direction.
  • Ability to communicate quality objectives/requirements effectively and negotiate with customers and vendors.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional travel between facilities.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Composites and aerospace manufacturing experience, including both prototype and high-volume environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO9000, ISO13485, and ITAR.
  • Knowledge of gauging, metrology, and CMM programming/software.
  • Experience leveraging AI and technology to improve quality efficiency.
