Senior Director, Translational Neuroscience
Your work will change lives. Including your own.
The Impact You’ll Make
Recursion's approach to neuroscience therapeutic discovery leverages the largest proprietary biological and chemical dataset ever built-in human CNS relevant cell types to discover medicines unconstrained by human bias and research precedent. We are seeking a Senior Director, Translational Neuroscience that will partner with others to build a portfolio in support of neurodegenerative, neurodevelopmental and neuroimmunological diseases. In collaboration with our biopharma partners, you will lead a cross functional team of translational scientists to generate and advance innovative projects via inference-based drug discovery utilizing insights from Recursion’s maps of neurobiology. As an external-facing leader, you will work closely with our partners to understand, apply, and apply our differentiated approach to rapidly advance drug discovery. You will direct and inspire Recursion’s team using their deep and broad expertise and work to build novel drug discovery programs in neuroscience.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the generation of translational focused drug discovery programs both internally and in partnership with external parties
- Advocate for Recursion's industry-leading platform, reimagining neuroscience drug discovery and decoding novel CNS biology through collaboration with scientific leaders, computational biologists, chemists, etc across the neuroscience organization
- Facilitate innovative drug discovery programs using Recursion's inference-based approach and industrialized processes, focusing across the field of neurobiology and incorporating translational approaches throughout the programs
- Coordinate with our business development team and partners, ensuring delivery goals and project expectations are satisfied
- Drive Discovery by liaising with internal and external groups to identify novel drug targets, pathways, and mechanisms for neurologic diseases, identifying robust and translational functional endpoints, and accelerating their clinical progress
Location:
This position is based at our headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT. Relocation will be available for candidates who are not local to the area.
The Team You’ll Join
Reporting to the VP of Neuroscience, you will be joining Recursion’s partnership with Roche-Genentech as a key leader. In this role you will lead a team dedicated to the building of novel technology and projects in neurodegenerative diseases exploring Recursion’s maps to decode novel neurobiology. This team exploits a multi-omic approach toward the establishment and validation of novel hypotheses in neuroscience disease biology while incorporating functionally relevant translational endpoints.
The Experience You’ll Need
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related life science discipline and a minimum of 10+ years experience in the biotech or pharma industry
- Experience successfully driving therapeutic programs from early drug discovery to the clinic incorporating robust translational endpoints and with a desire to transform the process
- Familiarity with latest technological approaches (e.g. iPSC models, multi omics) and proven experience applying them to answer critical questions for neuroscience drug discovery programs
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with scientific and strategic stakeholders
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate both science and vision
- Experience leading high-performing teams and collaborating seamlessly in a cross-functional matrix organization
- Experience bringing together novel insights from different disciplines to answer drug discovery/development challenges
