You will play a crucial role in helping towards the smooth running of the Accounts Payable (AP) function, leveraging your knowledge and experience as we continue on our journey towards automating AP. We’re looking for someone with strong initiative, a collaborative approach, and the ability to transparently communicate with various colleagues at all levels. As this is a leadership position, we’re seeking someone who thrives when mentoring and inspiring clerks that you will supervise.

You will report to the Accounting Senior Manager, collaborating with other members of the wider Finance team, and working cross-functionally across the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, global organisation at the forefront of drug discovery.

In this role, you will

  • Proactively identify and address key areas for process improvement, streamlining and simplifying workload to ensure efficiency within the function.
  • Manage and optimise the use of our accounts payable system (Coupa) in the UK, including implementing new features, improving and automating processes, and ensuring data integrity, particularly ahead of month end close.
  • Produce and present month end reporting relative to team KPIs.
  • Have overall responsibility for vendor management, including ownership of the AP mailbox and phone line.
  • Liaise with Group Auditors to provide them with timely and accurate information upon request.

The Team You’ll Join

The Accounts Payable team is a fun group who collaborate closely to ensure that all transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner and align with audited financial statements. In your role as Accounts Payable Manager, you will lead the UK Accounts Payable team, reporting into the Group Accounting Supervisor as part of the wider Group Finance function.

The Experience You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of professional, hands-on experience managing accounts payable and credit card expenses; previous experience in an AP Manager position is preferred.
  • Strong experience building and using AP systems and operational excellence within them; prior experience with either Coupa, NetSuite, Jaggaer or Microsoft NAV will be helpful in this role.
  • Ability to confidently produce month end reporting in line with team KPIs.
  • Experience in managing employee expenses. Prior experience with Concur will be helpful in this role.  Experience in vetting new vendors for set up in an ERP system.
  • Passion for financial work, with a proactive approach to tasks and ability to work to tight deadlines. Confidence to work independently whilst also operating as part of a global Finance team. Additionally, great communication skills are essential to thrive in this role.
  • Experience in a pharmatech, tech or life sciences environment is preferred, but not essential.
