Recursion’s Returnship Program
Our Returnship program is sponsored by the Women at Recursion Employee Resource Group. The program is aimed at helping those who have taken a hiatus (2+ years) from the STEM industry have the opportunity to return to the workforce in a learning environment with support from teams and mentors. This allows our company to tap into an underutilized pool of talent in Utah, and leverage the experience and skills of previous work and life experiences, while also providing opportunity to learn and develop experience in new cutting-edge tools and technology. This sixteen-week program will enable you to have ownership of projects that can deeply impact the company’s mission to radically decode biology and serve patients, while having the guidance, support and mentorship has you re-enter the workforce. Each Returner will be assigned a mentor who will meet with them weekly, as well as weekly seminars on workplace culture, communication and technology.
Our returner program lasts 4 months, running from February 2026 through the end of May 2026, with potential for transition into full-time employment depending on performance and availability. This position is mainly based in our Salt Lake City, UT headquarters, with some hybrid working flexibility available.
Product Returnship
Recursion’s Product team translates company-level strategy into specific internal development initiatives and capabilities. We decide what to build and articulate the why, while supporting builders to own the how. We focus our decisions and are held accountable for impact over the longer-term (months to years). Join us to guide the development of the industry’s first truly industrialized drug discovery engine.
Working alongside Recursion’s Product team within the OS Hub, you will:
- Define the product vision for a core discovery-enabling product within the Recursion OS
- Partner closely with biologists, chemists, data scientists, and engineers to advance the early pipeline through the development of methods for target identification and hit identification
- Define and prioritize product requirements to improve semi-automated evaluation systems
- Plan and coordinate delivery of complex, high-impact initiatives
- Articulate strategy and progress to stakeholders at all levels, from individual scientists to leadership, ensuring alignment and excitement around our shared vision.
The Experience You’ll Need
This role is for individuals who have been on a career hiatus of 2+ years from the STEM industry. We are seeking candidates with a strong foundational background and a passion for learning.
- 3 years of total professional work experience demonstrating a history in one or more of the following domains:
- Scientific: Experience in a laboratory, academic research, or clinical operations role
- Technical: Experience in software development, data science, informatics, or technical program management.
- Product: Prior experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, Strategy, or equivalent business roles.
- Scientific Curiosity: A deep curiosity about biological science and an appetite for learning complex drug discovery processes and terminology.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience managing the expectations and conflicting priorities of diverse stakeholders (e.g., customers, internal technical teams, or executive leadership) to align them on a unified goal.
- Customer Empathy & Discovery: Demonstrated ability to apply a customer- or user-centric mindset by actively seeking to understand pain points, unmet needs, or user workflows to define critical problems worth solving.
