Freight Audit and Pay Analyst

A TMS – Freight Audit & Pay Analyst typically handles tasks related to auditing and processing payments for freight shipments, ensuring accuracy in billing and resolving discrepancies in freight costs.

Responsibilities:

• Freight Audit:
  • Review freight invoices to ensure they align with agreed contracts, rates, and terms.
  • Identify and investigate any discrepancies or errors in freight charges.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including operations and finance, to resolve discrepancies.
• Payment Processing:
  • Process payments to carriers and other stakeholders based on verified freight charges.
  • Ensure timely payments to prevent disruptions in service and maintain positive relationships with carriers.
  • Maintain accurate records of all payments and transactions.
• Data Analysis:
  • Analyze freight data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings or operational improvements.
  • Prepare reports related to freight audits, payments, and carrier performance.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements.
• System Management (TMS):
  • Utilize a Transportation Management System (TMS) to track and manage shipments, invoices, and payments.
  • Ensure the TMS is updated with accurate data to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot any issues related to the TMS or payment discrepancies.
• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with the finance, accounting, and operations teams to ensure smooth payment processing and accurate audits.
  • Communicate with carriers and vendors to resolve billing issues or discrepancies.
• Compliance:
  • Ensure that all freight audits and payments comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Stay updated on changes in the logistics industry that could affect payment processes or billing rates.

Skills + Qualifications:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and freight billing.
• Attention to detail and ability to work with large sets of data.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of logistics and transportation billing practices is helpful.
• Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools.
