YOUR IMPACT
Redwood Software is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team and support the development of clear, accurate, and user-centered content for Redwood’s RunMyJobs Workload Automation solution.
In this role, you will create and maintain high-quality documentation while contributing to content design initiatives that enhance the overall customer experience. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and UX/design teams to ensure consistency across product documentation and in-product content.
We are particularly interested in candidates who are AI-forward and curious about emerging technologies, and who actively explore ways to responsibly incorporate AI tools into their documentation workflows, content design practices, and productivity strategies.
This is an excellent opportunity for a writer who understands how structured, well-designed content improves usability, adoption, and customer success — and who is excited about the evolving role of AI in technical communication.
Documentation & Content Development
- Produce and maintain high-quality, clear, and concise documentation for Redwood’s workload automation products, including user guides, implementation documentation, API documentation, knowledge base content, and release notes.
- Translate complex technical concepts — including third-party integrations, cloud services, and automation features — into user-friendly content tailored to different personas.
- Ensure documentation reflects current product capabilities, enhancements, and integrations.
Content Design & Customer Experience
- Apply content design principles to create structured, user-centered content that improves clarity, findability, and usability.
- Partner with UX and product design teams to develop and refine in-product content such as UI text, onboarding flows, error messages, tooltips, and microcopy.
- Contribute to content strategy discussions to ensure consistency across documentation and in-product experiences.
- Advocate for the customer perspective, using feedback and analytics to improve content effectiveness.
AI-Enabled Documentation Practices
- Explore and responsibly leverage AI tools to improve documentation efficiency, quality, and consistency.
- Experiment with AI-assisted drafting, editing, content structuring, metadata generation, and workflow optimization.
- Contribute ideas for incorporating AI into documentation processes while maintaining accuracy, governance, and brand standards.
- Stay informed on emerging AI trends and assess their applicability to technical communication and customer experience.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with domain experts, engineers, product managers, and designers to gather information and ensure accuracy.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and work within sprint cycles to deliver content aligned with product releases.
- Review and edit content for clarity, accuracy, tone, and adherence to style guidelines.
- Contribute to improving documentation workflows, standards, and governance processes.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in technical writing for complex software products, ideally within B2B SaaS environments.
- Demonstrated experience applying content design principles and contributing to user-centered content strategies.
- Experience working closely with UX/design teams on customer experience and in-product content, including microcopy and interface text.
- Experience creating technical documentation using tools such as MadCap Flare (or similar authoring tools), HTML, XML, or related technologies.
- Familiarity with modern documentation practices such as Docs as Code, version control (e.g., Git), and lightweight markup (e.g., Markdown).
- Experience with collaboration and project tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Familiarity with API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in an Agile environment.
AI Mindset & Experience
- Experience incorporating AI tools into documentation workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, or content quality;
or - Demonstrated curiosity and proactive exploration of AI technologies in professional or personal projects.
- Understanding of responsible AI usage, including validation, fact-checking, and maintaining documentation integrity.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to workload automation, enterprise software, or cloud-based platforms.
- Familiarity with SAP, Docker, or basic Python scripting.
- Experience contributing to content governance frameworks or design systems.

- In-product content is consistent, user-centered, and aligned with design standards.
- AI tools are thoughtfully leveraged to enhance documentation quality and team productivity.
- Customers can successfully implement and use RunMyJobs with minimal friction.
- Documentation and UI content support improved adoption, usability, and customer satisfaction.
Pay Transparency: The typical base salary range for this position is CAD $70,000 - $90,000 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's skills, experience, and relevant qualifications.
The salary ranges provided in this posting are specific to roles based in Ontario, Canada, and reflect the cost of labor and market data unique to this province. These figures are determined based on local economic factors, statutory requirements under the Ontario Employment Standards Act, and regional industry benchmarks. Compensation for similar roles located outside of Ontario may vary based on local market conditions and jurisdictional regulations.
