Top of Production Sample Maker:
Sew the design following the Pre-Production Sample to create a complete garment in order to pinpoint any problems before the completed sample goes to bulk production.
What you’ll do:
- Draw thread through guides, tensions, and needles; Replace and re thread needles and bobbins
- Adjust machine functions according to fabric type
- Follow design patterns and create a complete garment while identifying any problems
- Inspect samples to ensure quality
- Detect and report any errors
- Perform basic maintenance on sewing machines and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Work cooperatively with the team lead and independently manage workflow, reporting any production issues w/ management.
- Flexible to take additional tasks as assigned
What you’ll need:
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred
- 2-3 years of Top of Production Sample Maker Experience Knowledge, Skills required
- Knowledge of Garment/Apparel manufacturing industry required. Must have experience following patterns on how to execute an operation
- Experience handling different types of fabric and materials such as crepe, chiffons, silks and rayons
- Experience with performing invisible zippers, baby hems, plackets, pockets, shirring, and/or welt pockets
- Experience working with all types of products including jackets, coats, dresses, pants, tops and accessories
- Knowledge of different sewing machines like single / double needle sewing machines, coverstitch, triple needle coverstitch machines
- Flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary
- Ability to follow all ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by the company and the department
- Ability to work independently
- Highly detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with peers and management.
- Ability to read English
Essential Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. for short distances.
- Perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, sitting for long periods of time, as well as bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pulling and pushing.
- Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).
- Work Setting: Indoors, Environmentally Controlled
Hourly, Non-exempt: $18-21/hr DOE
