Senior Merchandise Planning & Strategy Manager
Who We Are:
Being naked is the #1 most sustainable option. We're #2.
Since 2009, we've been on a mission to bring sustainable fashion to everyone. Named one of Fast Company’s Brands That Matter and winning a Best Carbon Footprint award, we have big goals like being Climate Positive by 2025, Circular by 2030, and pushing the whole industry forward along the way. Our work has gotten love in Drapers and Sourcing Journal, and TIME wrote about how great our CEO, Hali Borenstein, is. Basically, we're saving the Earth and looking damn good doing it.
We're a global brand with 50+ stores (and counting) around the world, and our own sustainable factory in LA. We innovate across categories like accessories, swimwear, and sleepwear, and we reach millions of people with campaigns like this, this and this.
None of this work is possible without the incredible people behind it. We're a mission-based company that invests in an inclusive culture, so we can innovate together and ensure everyone has the space to grow, thrive, and belong.
And starting right now, we want to do all that with you.
Work Location/ Schedule:
The Role: Senior Manager of Merchandise Planning and Strategy
Reformation is looking for a Senior Manager of Merchandise Planning & Strategy to play a pivotal role in driving the operational success and strategic growth of our business. This is not a traditional planning role—we’re looking for a forward-thinking, analytically obsessed leader who is as comfortable building a sophisticated AI-powered tool as they are presenting a strategic recommendation to senior leadership. You will sit at the intersection of data, technology, and business strategy—transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that inform decisions across Merchandising, Finance, Supply Chain, and beyond. You thrive in ambiguity, move fast without sacrificing rigor, and have a genuine passion for using modern tools—especially AI—to work smarter and build better.
What You’ll Do:
Strategy & Analytics
- Lead strategic planning initiatives that connect merchandise performance to broader business objectives, turning data into decisions that drive growth.
- Build and maintain robust analytical frameworks using large, complex datasets to surface trends, risks, and opportunities across the product lifecycle.
- Develop and own key performance metrics and reporting infrastructure; partner with stakeholders to define what “good” looks like and track progress relentlessly.
- Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and clear recommendations—comfortable operating in both the weeds and the big picture.
AI & Technology Innovation
- Champion the use of AI and machine learning to automate and improve planning processes—from demand forecasting to assortment optimization to inventory allocation.
- Apply AI/ML models to real business problems with a clear eye toward practical impact and scalability.
- Stay ahead of the curve on emerging AI capabilities and evaluate how new tools can be integrated into planning and strategy workflows.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Change Management
- Serve as a strategic thought partner and influential voice across Merchandising, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Technology.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives from ideation through execution, driving alignment and accountability across teams with competing priorities.
- Champion process improvements and new ways of working—bringing stakeholders along through effective change management and clear, compelling communication.
What You’ll Bring:
Background & Experience
- 7+ years in a strategic, analytical, or planning-adjacent role; experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods strongly preferred.
- Background in Merchandise Planning is a plus but not required—we care far more about your analytical horsepower, technical toolkit, and leadership skills than category expertise.
- Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced company environment where resourcefulness and adaptability are essential.
Technical Expertise
- Deep proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and large dataset manipulation—this should never be a bottleneck on your path to insight.
- Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML models to solve business problems—from scoping the right approach to interpreting and operationalizing results.
- Strong command of SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis across relational databases.
- Ability to build custom AI-powered tools and automated workflows that create real efficiency gains for the business.
Who You Are:
- Analytical and data driven - You have a proven track record of turning large, complex datasets into clear, decision-driving insights.
- An exceptional communicator - You have the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences from analysts to executives.
- Agile - You thrive in a fast-faced, ever changing environment.
- A cross-functional leader - You have the ability to influence and drive outcomes across multiple teams
- Proactive and solution-oriented - You are a natural problem solver who approaches ambiguity with curiosity and structure.
