SUMMARY

Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is an accredited not-for-profit institution of higher education serving thousands of educators from across the country, from pre-service teachers to system-level leaders. The Student Affairs and Student Services team focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and meaningful experience for all Relay students and alumni. Reporting to the Managing Director, Student Affairs and Student Services Operations, this director will lead the design and execution of institution-wide strategies to increase enrollment yield, re-engage students on leave, and convert leads through data-informed decision-making. This role bridges admissions, marketing, and cross-functional operations to drive enrollment growth and uses data to continuously improve conversion and re-enrollment processes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

The essential responsibilities of this position, while not limited to the following, will include: 

Admissions and Re-enrollment Strategy (35%)

  • Build and implement a multi-term re-enrollment strategy for students on LOA or previously withdrawn.
  • Oversee admissions processes and timelines in partnership with operations and review teams to optimize application flow.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop persona-based messaging and content for each stage of the funnel.
  • Provide insight on lead quality and marketing channel performance to refine targeting.
  • Collaborate on culturally relevant, persona-based campaigns and messaging to increase conversion.
  • Partner with relevant internal teams to streamline re-entry processes and reduce friction.
  • Collaborate with leadership across teams to align admissions criteria with student success indicators.
  • Ensure admissions policies are applied consistently and in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze re-enrollment patterns and develop interventions and campaigns that support persistence and a high rate of return.
  • Analyze admissions metrics, trends, and decision timelines to identify potential bottlenecks and proactively recommend process improvements to prevent pain points.
  • Coordinate the timely execution of application, marketing, and data system needs in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Track and analyze re-enrollment trends using predictive data to design targeted campaigns and monitor return rates

Lead Conversion Strategy & Oversight (35%)

  • Refine and execute lead conversion strategy, optimizing outreach sequences, contact cadences, and communication channels.
  • Lead full-funnel analysis including conversion, yield, melt, and lead source performance.
  • Identify patterns or bottlenecks in the funnel and recommend adjustments to optimize conversion.
  • Monitor CRM (e.g. Slate, Salesforce) to ensure accurate lead tagging, pipeline movement, and status tracking.
  • Track and interpret lead conversion metrics (e.g. app start-to-offer rates), to  design and implement interventions which mitigate attrition.

Team Leadership & Staff Development, Cross-Functional Collaboration (30%)

  • Directly supervise, coach, and develop a team of admissions staff to meet goals.
  • Foster a data-informed, student-centered team culture that emphasizes inclusion, ownership, and innovation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless admissions to enrollment experience.
  • Participate in meetings to align on enrollment forecasts, capacity planning, and term readiness.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to align admissions operations with evolving institutional needs.
  • Translate enrollment data into strategic insights that inform cross-functional planning, marketing spend, and resource allocation.
  • Partner with relevant internal teams to ensure data accuracy, access, and reporting scalability across systems.
  • Set and monitor performance expectations, lead hiring and onboarding, and conduct regular coaching and evaluations to support staff growth.
  • Other (duties, projects, task) as assigned in support of the team’s goals

QUALIFICATIONS

First and foremost, the Director, Admissions and Enrollment Strategy and Conversion must share the Relay community’s commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that set novice teachers up to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning to educators. Additionally, for this position, we’re looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of enrollment or admissions experience, with 3+ years at a leadership level
  • Demonstrated success in lead conversion strategy and re-enrollment campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into insights and action
  • Experience collaborating with marketing and academic departments
  • Ability to manage and lead high-performing teams

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Masters Degree in Higher Education, Sales, Business, Communications, or related field
  • Experience in K–12 or educator prep programs
  • Proficiency in Slate, Salesforce, or comparable CRMs
  • Deep understanding of the student decision-making journey

COMPENSATION

Relay is committed to creating and maintaining a compensation and benefits system that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we will be guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal equity.  The salary range for this role is $96,525-$135,135. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range, $96,525, to allow for an equitable starting salary process and continual salary growth during an employee’s time at Relay GSE.

To ensure internal pay equity:

  • New hires are not eligible for a salary at the high end of the role’s salary range,
  • All staff salaries will be capped at the salary range maximum, and
  • Relay does not negotiate salary offers.
