Role Overview
As Relay continues to scale and advance its go-to-market motions, the need for high-quality data planning, structured analysis, and clear operational insight remains critical. Reporting to the Director of Revenue Planning and Analytics, this internship provides an opportunity to contribute foundational analytical support to the Sales and GTM teams.
The intern will focus on hands-on data analysis, data extraction (SQL experience preferred), and prototyping AI-native analytical processes to support sales analyses & team execution. This role is focused on the data supporting the rolling 12-month horizon and will help ensure the right information is surfaced to sales and segment leaders by assisting in aggregating data, analyzing performance, and translating core data insights.
Success in this role requires the ability to perform analytical rigor, a proactive approach to data work, and clear communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in Building Sales Planning Infrastructure
- Support the team by running data analyses to inform bookings targets, productivity expectations, and other modelling assumptions.
- Develop and run queries to update inputs for pipeline models, quota capacity, and other frameworks.
- Contribute to refining planning data as segments evolve and more performance data becomes available.
- Support Segment Performance Visibility & Analytical Analysis
- Use Hubspot and other database/SQL capabilities to extract, clean, and aggregate performance data across segments.
- Analyze performance data to assist with identifying indicators and emerging trends.
- Assist in diagnosing where execution is strong versus where it is breaking down.
- Typical outputs may include running Hubspot dashboards, SQL queries for analyses, productivity trends, etc.
- Develop AI-Native Analytical Processes
- Help assist in the design and prototype AI-native processes to automate data preparation, quality checks, or foundational reporting for the sales team.
- Help evaluate new analytical tools and methods to enhance the team’s sales capabilities - including sales efficiency and data modeling.
- Support Strategy Teams Through Data Supply
- Act as an analytical resource to the team by supplying the data pulls to help with structured insights needed to evaluate strategic options.
- Support the creation of sales operational models for segment business cases.
- Help quantify opportunity sizes and resourcing implications by querying source data.
- Help surface data-backed perspectives that sharpen leadership discussions.
- Assist in Synthesizing Insights for Leadership
- Help prepare data slides and summaries for leadership-ready narratives and planning materials.
- Prepare supporting dashboards / data visualizations and analyses for leadership reviews.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative / analytical field such as Finance, Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to structure problems and translate data into business insight.
- Proficiency with SQL and Hubspot / CRM tools - and experience querying relational databases to support analytical analysis.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in building AI-native processes or leveraging generative AI for operational efficiency.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex data topics.
- Naturally collaborative and curious - with a high degree of ownership.
- Comfortable asking questions and operating in fast-moving environments.
- Familiarity with SaaS revenue drivers (pipeline dynamics, sales capacity, expansion) is a plus.
