New

Senior Design Engineer

New Zealand

Join us at Re-Leased

Re-Leased is the property management platform helping property professionals run better real estate businesses. We’re building AI-powered tools that simplify complexity, reduce risk, and help teams thrive in a digital-first world.

As Senior Design Engineer, you will write production-ready UI code with AI assistance, and own the full arc from experience flow to finished interface: thinking about why something should exist, and making sure it's the best version it can be. Using AI tools across the full design-to-code pipeline, you'll ship UI for AI-centric products: interfaces that feel alive, handle dynamic content gracefully, and communicate AI outputs without overwhelming the people using them. You're not here to decorate: you're here to make the product look and work like it means business.

You'll work directly with product managers and engineers, and partner with sales and marketing to make sure what you build is easy to sell. You'll challenge direction when the flow doesn't make sense, and back it up with a better version. Deliverables include wireframes, AI-generated proof-of-concepts, production-ready designs and code, and visual assets that support GTM. Shipping is the goal; not handoff.

In our AI-centric product team you'll help establish the patterns for how dynamic, generative experiences are conceived, built, and refined: setting a standard others can follow.

What you’ll be owning:

  • Own the full experience flow for your area: understand why it needs to exist, how it fits the user's journey, and what good looks like before a pixel is placed.
  • If the flow doesn't make sense, make it better: then tell us why your version is better.
  • Use AI tools throughout the design process: faster exploration, sharper communication, higher quality bar. Your craft judgment is what the tools are in service of.
  • Work closely with engineering and product to validate direction early and iterate at pace.
  • Move designs toward production-ready code using AI-powered tools (Cursor or similar): the goal is shipping, not handing off.
  • Maintain quality and consistency as designs move through to implementation: you own the finish line, not just the Figma file.
  • Give engineering considered, specific feedback on implementation; understand the tradeoffs and help make the right calls.
  • Contribute to and evolve the design system for AI-centric UI patterns: dynamic content, generative outputs, adaptive interfaces.
  • Produce visual assets that make the product easy to sell: demo flows, feature visuals, UI that communicates value clearly to prospects.
  • Work with marketing and sales to understand what needs to land in a customer conversation, and design for that moment.
  • Raise the standard across product and GTM touch-points.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in product design with a strong visual craft standard: you care about how it looks, not just how it works
  • Experience designing for AI-native interfaces: dynamic content, generative outputs, and adaptive experiences that communicate clearly without overwhelming the person using them
  • Fluent in AI-powered design and prototyping tools: uses them to explore faster, communicate more clearly, and raise the quality bar. Craft judgment is what the tools are in service of
  • Comfortable moving designs toward production-ready code using AI-powered tools like Cursor: the goal is shipping, not handing off
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesise abstract product direction into concrete, buildable design decisions
  • Experienced working closely with front-end engineers in an agile environment — iterates fast, gives specific feedback, and understands the tradeoffs
  • A strong point of view on quality; willing to challenge direction and back it up with a better version
  • Ability to produce visual assets that support GTM: understands what needs to land in a customer conversation and designs for that moment
  • Ability to thrive in a distributed model: communicates clearly and collaborates closely across time zones
  • Demonstrated ability to keep up with industry trends and bring relevant ideas into the team

Why you’ll love working here

  • Taking care of you: Including comprehensive health insurance, access to a premium EAP service and an annual wellness allowance to spend on what helps you feel good - whether that’s towards a gym membership, new running shoes, or mindfulness apps.
  • Support for families: Generous paid parental leave and flexible, family-friendly support designed to help growing families balance work and life with confidence.
  • Recognition for tenure and milestones: We celebrate time, commitment, and contribution with milestone rewards and additional leave as you grow your career with us.
  • Flexible working, built for a global team: With customers and teammates across New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, and North America, we work in a hybrid, remote-friendly way with collaborative offices and the flexibility of a balanced approach to WFH/i-office work.

Our culture is very important to us too, and we strongly believe in living out our core values:

  • People First: One team globally; our people and customers always come first.
  • Find a Way: Like a river, we find a way around all obstacles
  • Win or Learn: Our journey for improvement never ends; enjoy the ride!
  • Aim High: We dare to set big goals and love the challenge of achieving them against the odds.
