Sr. Project Manager
Remora is hiring an experienced Project Manager to enhance our Engineering and Research Organization. As a member of the Integration Team, the Project Manager will lead and drive the execution of projects, focusing on construction and facilities readiness, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and timelines. The ideal candidate will promote transparency, communication, and collaboration across departments, develop comprehensive project plans, driving them to completion, and work closely with team members at all levels to achieve goals.
We’re a 50-person climate tech startup based in Detroit, MI. We're building a device that captures a semi-truck’s carbon emissions directly from the tailpipe. We'll sell the CO2 to end-users, and share that revenue with our customers, so our device will create a new revenue stream while reducing their emissions.
We've signed up some of the largest companies in the world to pilot our technology, including iconic multibillion-dollar brands, top trucking companies, and some of the most recognizable Fortune 100 companies. We’ve raised multiple rounds of funding from top investors like Lowercarbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, and Valor Equity Partners.
Responsibilities:
Plan and Develop:
- Develop detailed project plans for technical and other business-related projects with defined scope, timelines, and budget.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments at various project milestones.
- Align project goals with overall business strategy, ensuring a cohesive approach.
- Adapt project plans due to updated requirements and new learnings from ongoing research efforts.
Execute:
- Oversee project execution, working with individual team members to achieve deliverables, identifying and resolving roadblocks promptly to maintain project momentum.
- Manage project schedules, costs, and performance metrics.
- Coordinate activities across functional groups to ensure alignment with Engineering design to accomplish project milestones and gate deliverables through the use of meeting minutes, agendas, trackers, and other tools.
- Identify, track, and mitigate current and future project risks, understanding their potential impact, propose mitigation strategies, and escalate at-risk items for resolution.
Collaborate:
- Establish and lead cross-team efforts to track and communicate project and task status.
- Collaborate with individuals and teams to mitigate project risks, identify resource gaps, and foster transparency and communication across the organization.
- Support the creation, communication, and utilization of strong, efficient processes; including project engineering design requirements, problem identification, solution development, project execution, and knowledge management.
Grow:
- As a senior member of the team, develop personal and team skills, including:
- Providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members, assisting with skill development and project execution.
- Staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in tools and technology to enhance design processes and efficiency.
- Support the introduction and development of improved project execution processes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Program Manager or a related field.
- 7+ years' experience as a Project or Program Manager, with experience managing and scheduling complex, industrial construction projects, including site readiness and facilities upgrades, in a compressed timeline.
- Experience with Construction, EPC, and/or Architecture projects.
- Permitting and regulatory codes (Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, etc.)
- Experience managing outside vendors.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, purchasing, fabrication, manufacturing, testing, and finance.
- Experience with project management tools and software (e.g., Jira).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting schedule and deliverable commitments.
Preferred Requirements:
- 10+ years experience.
- Experience with executing complex, technical hardware development projects from conception to completion.
- Experience conducting Lessons Learned and Project Retrospective reviews, including documenting learnings in knowledge management tools.
- Experience with large scale hardware systems including some of the following: Industrial, Bio-Pharma, Oil & Gas, Modular Process Skid Design.
- Experience as a Product Design Engineer.
- Experience working in a Startup environment, preferably in R&D. industrial, Bio-Pharma, Oil & Gas, Modular Process Skid Design.

Compensation and Benefits:
