This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global HR-tech space as Sr Legal Operations Associate joining our Legal team, reporting to Associate General Counsel - Core legal.
Remote’s Legal Operations function supports the Legal Team’s scalability, efficiency and operational effectiveness through a mix of technology, data-driven decision making, process improvement, strategic direction and new ways of working. The mission is to keep Legal support fast, effective and relevant, while also managing scale.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Computer Science, or related field
- Substantial experience in a in-house legal department, law firm, consulting firm, or comparable experience, in both legal and legal operations capacities
- Demonstrable project management skills and experience owning end-to-end legal optimisation initiatives with clear impacts
- Strong technical proficiency, particularly in Slack, Notion, task management systems, workflow automation tools (e.g. Zapier), BI tools (e.g. Sigma).
- Relevant experience in programming languages (e.g. Python, JavaScript) and data analysis tools (e.g. SQL, Python).
- Good understanding of the legal technology market and landscape, particularly ALSPs, CLM, ELM tools, AI tools and expert systems
- Experience designing, building and implementing complex legal technology solutions, particularly tools using existing enterprise systems
- Strong data analysis skills and ability to gather insights from unstructured datasets;
- Demonstrable experience in legal process engineering and improvement; and
- Ability to apply systems thinking and information architecture principles to solutions
- Global employment law experience is a plus
- Background in a scale-up, HR-tech or fast-paced work environment is a plus
- Interest and understanding of complimentary disciplines and how to apply them to legal use cases, such as service design, product thinking, information architecture or UX design
- Good understanding of Artificial Intelligence and various Machine Learning methodologies
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop legal technology solutions and automation tools
- Create and maintain document automation systems
- Implement and optimize legal workflow processes
- Collaborate withrelevant teams to identify opportunities for technological improvement. Partner with technical teams to design, build and implement technical solutions, both internally developed solutions (e.g. Slack, Notion, Zapier) and external tech tools (e.g. CLM, Coupa)
- Develop and maintain legal knowledge management systems, including improvements to knowledge management, such as actioning new knowledge actions, improving processes around same and supporting the scalability of Project Watchtower and any other legal-driven knowledge management initiatives
- Provide technical support for legal software applications
- End-to-end ownership of strategic optimisation projects and tasks, including scoping, ideation, planning, execution, reporting and stakeholder management
- Identify and propose solutions to Legal’s operational pain points, balancing quick wins with scalable solutions
- Drive improvements between cross-functional teams and Legal, such as self-help solutions, improved knowledge management and improving engagement processes
- Drive improvement of Remote’s external counsel management, including engagement models, panel composition, alternative market solutions and financial management
- Working with local counsel to handle higher risk events related to our products or services and ‘project managing’ these engagements
- Additional ad hoc legal support as required (based on individual skillset and expertise)
- Support with implementation of CLM tools and document generation solutions
- Build, manage and operationalise data cleansing, analysis, metrics and reporting with BI Tools (e.g. Sigma).
- Act as ‘product owner’ for Legal’s tech stack, including internally developed systems and tools
- Ad hoc legal / paralegal support to Legal team members

We use geo ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in various markets while we hiring globally.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $35,200 to $79,200. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
