What this job can offer you

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Project Manager to oversee the management of global employment disputes and litigation cases handled by external counsel.
  • This pivotal role will involve strategizing and implementing project management principles tailored specifically to global employment disputes and litigation processes to ensure effective and efficient resolution of cases.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field; a Juris Doctorate or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in legal project management, specifically with a focus on litigation, preferably employment litigation.
  • Strong understanding of the litigation and other dispute resolution processes and experience managing cases through various stages of dispute resolution, preferably under both common and civil law systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders coming from various legal and business operations backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in using legal project management tools and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiatives to create new processes and implement on new ideas.
  • Writes and speaks fluent English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in legal project management (e.g., LPM, PMP with a legal focus).
  • Experience in a global or multi-jurisdictional environment, particularly in the EMEA, UK, or US regions.
  • Experience working as a legal project manager in an in-house setting and managing external counsel.
  • It's not required to have experience working remotely, but considered a plus

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans for effectively managing employment disputes and litigation matters, detailing processes, timelines, milestones, and resources.
  • Act as a primary liaison between external counsel, internal stakeholders and Remote’s clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment of legal strategies.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of disputes and litigation cases, identifying potential risks and devising mitigation strategies. Raise any escalations or risks for Remote to the relevant stakeholders in a time-efficient way and in a structured manner.
  • Implement best practices in legal project management, adapted specifically for managing employment disputes and litigation.
  • Coordinate and manage external counsel budgets, as well as recharges to clients, ensuring that all legal services are cost-effective and within the allocated financial resources.
  • Organize and lead regular review meetings with external counsel and internal teams to discuss case developments, adjustments in strategy, and overall project performance. Liaise with the Legal ops team on these reviews to ensure good engagement and management of external counsel at Remote.
  • Utilize technology, legal project management software and any other relevant tools (Zendesk, Notion, Gsuite, task management systems and automation tools) to enhance the efficiency of case handling.
  • With the assistance of local counsel, ensure that all legal and regulatory procedures are followed and deadlines met throughout the employment disputes and litigation lifecycle.

At first glance our salary bands seem quite wide - here is some context. At Remote we have international operations and a globally distributed workforce.  We use geo ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in various markets while we hiring globally.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $43,500 to $97,900. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
